That's right, I need a PCI card with at least one serial/RS232 port on it. I bought a usb-serial converter for my PIC programmer, but it doesn't work with my programmer apparently. the cheaper the better!

yeah, i have one that came with an old motherboard, uses a usb header. its just like this one: http://www.buy.com/prod/startech-com-24in-internal-motherboard-usb-header-to-serial-rs232/q/loc/101/217299826.html

Those are the type that won' work with his stuff, unfortunately. It needs to be a PCI based one.

yea thanks though farlo, I appreciate you looking. the USB based ones won't work because they're a 5v as opposed to a 12v setup (so I've been told)

I know I have a paralell-pci card.

Too bad it ain't serial.
