Just got my laptop back and did a clean wipe. IE8 updated.

Went to Mozilla's page to download firefox and the links are nowhere to be seen. I had to get it from a random page tucked away that was just text.

Now that I've got it. The exact same page in firefox shows the download link, yet in IE8 the buttons and links are nowhere to be seen.

IE8 blocking firefox, or mozilla's site coded for firefox? It would be pretty silly to code your site to only work for your browser if you wanted to increase market share.

Good riddance. I hate Firefox

Works just fine for me. What did the page look like? Does it still do it now?

I downloaded Firefox through IE8 and IE9 (long story)

I prefer FF over chrome. Not sure what it is (apart from the plugins I use) but I do like FF better.

I used to use both FF and Chrome, but with FF4 they added in pretty much all of the features that I like about Chrome, so I'm happily solely FF again. :D

Realistically, for most people it's a 'look and feel' thing these days, so long as you're using ie8 or later (simply, ie7 and lower have actual technical problems). Few people use a lot of browser plugins, so even the advantage of FF's rich plugin ecosystem isn't particularly relevant for most.

I had literally just reinstalled the operating system. It doesn't really matter as I found a download anyway.

Firefox, currently:

IE8, currently:

Fresh out of the box and updated for both. Same URL. Does it for me for any page with a FF download button. Doesn't really matter any more as I found FF anyway. As for browser wars, that wasn't what this topic was about. I use all the major browsers anyway: IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera.

Just strange that it did this on a fresh install. I installed windows 7, updated everything through windows update. Installed MSE. And went to Dl firefox. Just found it odd that it would do that.

EDIT: The only thing I can think of is that when you first install IE8, it gives that popup box that asks about your search settings, and whatnot, I just closed out of it. But none of those settings should be affecting this.

Main image isn't showing either, what happens when you navigate straight to the image in IE8?

It displays if I type the URL for the image in.
