I have a PIII 550. Multiplier is locked, so no upping there (don't know about downing). So far, this is what I have done:

Standard:
FSB: 100MHz
Multiplier: 5.5
Voltage: NO IDEA
MoBo: No idea either, other than it has Award BIOS, VIA chipset.
Speed: 550MHz

New:
FSB: 112
Multiplier: 5.5
Speed: 616MHz

Hmmm....
The MoBo supports 133MHz procys. Wonder how fast an OCed PIII 1.4GHz can get......

The main focus is the 550.

Install CPU-z (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html) and screenshot the first tab.

CPU-g then. (http://www.webupd8.org/2009/10/cpu-z-for-ubuntu-cpu-g.html) It's not as good though.
Try getting a shot of the first 4 tabs as I'm not sure what is on them and the cpu tab doesn't seem to have all the info I was hoping for.

It's worth installing a bootable Windows partition just for stability burn-in, compatibility, and diagnostic tests. I just keep a few ancient (8.5GB to 80GB) HDDs around with Win9x and WinXP exactly for this purpose, I find it saves time when tinkering with old junk or fixing cranky beasts or modding linux boxes.
