It isn't holding a charge anymore. Just stopped working overnight. Only charges for about a second then turns green. Charge lasts about 3 seconds.

Any ideas?

yeah buy a new one save your self the headache. ive had my xbox for like 5 years ive had to buy a new battery back every 6-8 months because they all died sooner or later.

yeah, the battery packs suck, and die after a few months.

Charging using play and charge kit?

I kept unplugging/reconnecting the cable when the red charging light turned green. Did it about 30 times. Now the red light is staying on, so maybe it's charging? Guess we'll find out.

Or you could do something like this (http://thereifixedit.failblog.org/2011/03/25/white-trash-repairs-i-dont-think-it-works-this-way/).

This is totally usual with a play and charge kit; between me and a friend we had five or 6 batteries 'die'.

Then I bought a wall charger for my batteries, and it resurrected every single one of them. It's just too little power coming out the USB cable. The wall charger has plenty juice.

I have a small stack of rechargeables for my 360's - I always use a mains charger (mainly so I always have a spare battery or two ready) and I've never yet thrown away one as no longer usable - oldest one is probably headed for 3 years old if not more...

Sweet. The method I used above worked.
