I was looking through some work logs on here and I noticed at the beginning of some of them they say "Thanks to so and so sponsors for making this possible". I was wondering how some of them get popular companies like Zalman or Corsair to sponsor them.

From what i've herd you send them detailed work plans to let them know what you're planning on doing, and you have to let them know how them sponsoring them will benefit you. Sometimes sponsors like to see work ahead of time, then decide later. Links to past works, and targeting smaller companies helps too. Dont shoot for zalman right away, when some place like petra's tech shop might be more likley to sponsor you. Dont be overly picky at what you get sponsored with, tell them a list of things you are hoping to get sponsored, and if you're lucky they might help you out. if you get 1 sponsor, don't be afraid to tell other companies that such and such have sponsored you, they might be more likley to help you if they know another company has already done it.

Ya I figured it worked something like that, where you send them the plans or sketches and if they like what they see they wouldn't mind having their hardware inside it. Thanks for the detailed response.

side note, i've never been sponsored, but thats the advice that was given to me.... my mod wasnt as ambitious as a lot of them on here.

Oh I'm not trying to get sponsored anytime soon, I've seen the projects that have been sponsored and they most definitely deserve it. It has to be a work of art, if not, just pure awesome.

Also make sure you talk to the right people. If you send your information to a generic email, most of the time it will be trashed. Try to find a PR or a marketing employee to help out.

When you're getting sponsered, it's similar to getting a job, but instead of money, you're getting parts.

Something that will also increase your chances, is if you ask sponsors to help out getting into some competitions. They're sponsoring you as advertisment for them. The more you say you'll put their name and logo on stuff, the more likely they're willing to say yes.
