Rant: Brothers killed ModCron's MoBo

I was Googling away, trying to figure out how to dualhead a GeForce 3.
Which I found out is a no-go.


So my brothers try plugging in the video card, because I had it in my hand to try googling numbers.


Thirty seconds later:
"Crap! Turn it off"


I go upstairs. Silicon smell :(

Thinking video card got burnt, I swap it.

No video.

Hook it to onboard, with replacement still in.


Boots up.



Well, gotta contact my source, see if they have any identical mobos.

Found the source of the smell.

On the slot is two pins stuck back into the slot.

Matching the pins on the card is a black trace.

(more upset about the false advertizing than my board frying.)


Hopefully, the mobo is repairable.

What is the mobo? Is it expensive?

Intel D865GBF. It's the one in my specs.

That's gonna be a tough one to find.
