Hi guys,

I really have no idea what to do!

My dads PC started to turn it's self off and I had a look and found that the thermal paste was more like a ceramic tile on the top of the CPU (P4 LG775). So I cleaned it properly and have since ran it for about 4 hours and no problems.

I decided to restart it and check the temperature out on the BIOS and it was running at 95 degrees (C). I took the case off as I was worried as I know this is high and it went upto 105 degrees (C).

WTF is going on lol - new thermal compound and it's now working but it's so hot! All the fans are running fine and no problems inside!

Any ideas why it's running so hot. It has not been OC'ed at all.

Cheers
Gareth

Is the CPU heatsink/fan connected properly? Meaning does it fully touch the CPU? Sometimes it looks like its on there right but it really isn't. I had this problem a few years back.

Yeah defo - it was not working before because of that. I have renovated it today by cleaning and applying some good quality compound to it.

Cheers

Hows the air flow in the case?
How many fans blowing in what directions?
Any useless programs running in the background? -Try booting in safe mode

Those are the things that stick out in my head at the moment.

Two things to check: uneven surface on the heatsink or CPU and dust in the heatsink (although I'm assuming that you already checked for/removed any dust)
