I have this dead iMac here. It's not mine, it belongs to a friend. It's died the usual death of these, namely the flyback transformer. Apparantly that's a common fault.
Since I'm the only one he knows who's into computers at a hardware level, he asked me to take a look at it.
I've never seen a Mac before, I'm mainly a PC/linux guy. But... I'm always up for an interesting challenge so I took it on. I've successfully connected it to my monitor, but it won't boot. I took out the disk but it won't mount in either linux or Windows.
Anyway, to the point of this post. Whilst googling for solutions, I stumbled across some guy who modded one.
I think the result is superb.
