...told me this morning when I got out of bed that I should be SO proud of her because she'd fixed the wireless problem we'd been having by turning the router off and back on again....
We had a power cut about 3 days ago and since then, the wireless network has been down, and I've been so busy that I hadn't had time to look into it - all of the desktop PCs in the house are hardwired so the wireless only really gets used for the Wii and laptops.
I felt so bad when I had to tell her that I'd replaced the router the previous evening after she went to bed......

I read this post and thought, well what a mean thing to do. Why not just let her have her moment. But then I realized with my own experience with mine, that your decision to break the news to her was the correct one. Mine won't shutup about how she figured out that the plug was loose in the back of her monitor.
Meh.
Now, if they figured out how to successfully install Windows 7 on a 486DX without any lagging AT ALL, I'd be amazed.

Oh that was no choice at all heh - I'm MUCH prefer she be pissed at me over a little burst bubble than be pissed at me for lying to her lol
I wish mine would take the initiative and do that on her own without me having to tell her. She's too afraid something is gonna get messed up and I'll get upset.

heh - I know what you mean - having said that, one of my wifes favourite lines is "I married a geek for a reason you know - so I don't HAVE to do this stuff" :P

LOL!
That sounds exactly like what my wife says all the time.
When she worked at SUN, rather than call for desktop support, she would call me (I used to work at SUN). I usually fixed her problem (or told her how) well before anyone from desktop support would call her back.
Now she calls me all the time because the support at her school is useless at best and mostly just pisses you off they are dumb.

Yeah I have an ex with whom I'm on very good terms who does the same thing when she has tech issues in her office - she works for a big national company and they have both local and national tech support sections, but she doesn't call them unless she can't reach me heh
