So recently, I upgraded most of my computer parts, including my case. My wife and I have been talking about doing a project together for a bit over a month, than it struck us. Let's do a computer for our daughters 11th birthday. We already started tearing down the case, which I took pictures of prior, but somehow they got wiped from the cameras memory. The case we are going to use, is one of the first cases I have ever personally owned.
It served me well for years, and was replaced when the Rocketfish cases went on sale. We have three mods planned for this year, starting with my daughters computer, than my brothers computer, and finally some simple mods and stuff for my new case.
Back to the victim. We will be destroying this case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-156-138&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2). Some Raidmax case from 1000 years ago. Anyway, we are trying to get our daughter involved by having her choose what is to be done with it. She keeps waffling back and forth between full pink, and full black with pink highlights.
Thus starts the build log. We don't think it will take more than a few weeks to do, which is good because her birthday is on the 29th of this month. This will be my first actual build log, and really my first mod altoghether. I've planned stuff before, just never actually did anything with it.
Here are the plans as they are:
1. Break the case down.
2. Clean it inside and out.
3. Repaint the inside matte black
4. Figure out where to put the pink highlights so they are subtle and not annoying.
5. Paint the PSU case to match the color scheme.
6a. (up in the air,) either do full sleeving on the PSU, or buy extensions and sleeve those.
6b. Purchase sleeving.
7. Cut out the front grill thing at the bottom for a 120mm fan.
8. Possibly cut a blow hole in the top of the case for an exhaust fan. Her room gets pretty hot during the summer.
Components:
Case: Raidmax Scorpio
Motherboard: Gigabyte M55SLI-S4
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 5000+ Black Edition
RAM: 4GB Supertalent DDR2
GPU: Not purchased yet.
HDD: Whatever she has in her pc right now, might break down for a 1tb drive off newegg if the price is right.
Thanks for looking, expect some pictures in the next few days. And let me save you guys the trouble.
