It's quite obvious that the home page is a bit more than stale--I'm looking for a couple of people that are interested in doing some good 'ole daily houskeeping to give it that fresh feeling. Perhaps by posting some headlines and a few witty words on the various projects and threads of interest to get readers inside. If anyone is interested the help would be much appreciated!!

Hell, sign me up. I love it here, i'll do everything i can to help out. But what exactly is it that you're looking for? Just a variety of interesting articles related to case modding and computer technology?

Hey i appreciate the offers! I thought it would be cool to maybe snag a pic or three (scaled appropriately) from the project gallery or from the worklogs and give the moddders some front page pimpage. Add a few paragraphs for description and some direct links and we are in business. I'll put one up as an example just to give an idea--ideas are always welcomed. Dave I'll make you a login for the admin section, check your messages. :)
Wow, I was just looking at that yesturday thinking it was bland :p.
Dave ya beat me to the punch ;). If ya ever need any help keeping up the page because of work or something let me know I'd be gald to help with a paragraph or something an send it to ya.

Always here to help! With a website of my own, I have some experience with similar stuff. However, I'd do anything to help TBCS, it was this website and Paul's book alone that got me into the whole thing - and I don't think I'm ever getting out.

For sure. Everything I own is crammed into the corner of my fiancee's room until our house is done. I've got a rather nice desk in storage right now, but no room for it, so until I move I'm stuck using that tiny piece of junk. I don't even have room for my drafting desk!

Waaaaaay ahead of you, man. The place has a huge garage that is separated into four rooms already. One will be an awesome game room with a game table that will be lifted to the ceiling with a winch and pulleys when not in use and will feature a huge RISK board painted on the floor. The other room I get to use will be the workshop that will be entirely for modding and other projects.
I will have my own office room in the house that I will be able to have my drafting table and computer desk set up in. I'm already planning on painting the door to the office like an original NES controller. hehehe
I've got a bunch of plans for the place - the first mod, once I finish the arcade cabinet, will be to build a file/web server using an old 700mhz HP computer I have. I've got the theme already figured out and have been collecting parts for it for a while now. I don't want to announce anything officially yet, until I get moved in and set up, and that we won't be able to move until August at the earliest, but I've got all kinds of awesome things up my sleeve for when the time comes.

I LOVE 40k. if you need a hand with anything when it comes to planning or building design, painting, whatever, let me know. I'm dying to get my garage, between being unable to build mods and unable to build models, I'm going crazy. I have so many awesome plans for mods and terrain pieces I want to make - I've got the first half of a notebook filled with designs and ideas.

Constructive criticism is welcome.
Firstly, if you take the photo at a greater angle, you're less likely to get the flash bouncing back. It won't look perfectly square, but I'm sure we all know that it is.
Secondly, and this seems to be common with the reviews, the page numbering.
<< 1 2 3 4 5 6 >>
Can we have prev and next in there? I found myself wondering what page I was on and had to hover the mouse over the numbers to see which one wasn't a link.
On page 5, After this line:
---Rankenphile Cabinet Color: Black
There's a repeat of pages 4 and 5 :?

Thanks for the feedback.
The glare thing - I know, it sucks. Unfortunately, I didn't have room to get better pictures - you can't tell much from the photos, but the room I'm working in is a small bedroom absolutely packed with stuff. THe house I'm in is a three-bedroom place with six people and five rowdy border collies, so everythign I own, and everything my girlfriend owns, is crammed in this bedroom. Not a perfect working environment. As I've mentioned above, I'll be moving in August and will have a MUCH better space for these reviews - a full office and a whole garage for projects.
As far as the page numbering, I've noticed that, too, and have already took a preliminary look at the code for the module that handles the reviews. We're going to be working on it to try to clean it up and make it more friendly and easy to use. I agree that the way it is set up now is less than idea, but at least it is functional.
Thanks for pointing out the repeat there - not sure what happened there. The form for posting the review was glitchy when I was first trying to get it up and I had to try a few times, I must have grabbed part of it twice when I posted it. Appreciate you pointing the problem out. It's fixed now.

Hey Rank,
Just read your review-glad to see the front page with new stuff. By the way, how does the monitor play with DVDs? I use a fast moving DVD to test the LCD's I sell-and I sell Rosewill quite often, but not this particular model, not yet. I found they have a good balance of price/quality.

I haven't actually tried a DVD yet - I don't know why. I've got a copy of Kung Fu Hustle that should have some good high-speed action. I'll give it a shot and add it to the review.

I'll see what we can do. I know the chat room stuff has come up before, but I'll definately see what I can do about the mod links and such. I'm also going to be doing more about things that aren't exactly tech news/reviews in the future, as time becomes more available.
Thanks for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

How about this. We each submit one or two photos of our rigs (well, the better ones... mine's not ready yet...), all the same dimensions, and there's some sort of random image selection so that visitors see a different picture each time.

Thats a great idea!! Im guessing it would kind of be like the random pic block that you see in nuke based sites. I kind of like the way Gruntville does the featured mods on their site, with a pic and a small descriptions. But this way its not limited to 3 or less mods on the cover.

Umm...hate to rain on your parade but we allready have that. But as it's Crimson's Site it only shows his computers.
Which makes sense, because obviously, there could be trouble if he looked like he was using other people's mods to advertise his business (don't forget this is his business as well).
Perhaps we could add another, but that's probably overkill, and he probably wants that advertising space, so nice idea, but probably best to leave it for now (unless Crimson wants to drop in with his opinions...) ;)

I guess I had forgotten about it. Maybe it just needs to be highlighted a bit, because you have to admit it does kind of get lost there on the side of the screen. The "block" that is there appears to be pulling random images from a gallery setup. It seems like it would be relatively simple to add a new album that a moderator could add photos to so that they would be displayed on the front page. After reading the "Company Information" link on the front page, I still think it would fit right in line with it to have random pictures of the incredible mods that have graced the pages of the forums, and I do mean that sincerely. We have a VERY talented group of individuals here that are not only willing to share their creations with us, but freely offer their time and advice to help anyone that asks. This of course just my opinion, but I believe that should be showcased. Ok I'm starting to blather, but really I have found more personal satisfaction in participating in this site and I just want others to find as much enjoyment in this site as I have. [\corny]

Well it could probably be arranged. At the end of the day it's Paul's site and his decision.
I'm probably not supposed to mention this, but there's been talk of working on the front page, improving it and such like. If you have any other suggestions then now would be a good time to put them forward.
EDIT: Seriously though, nothing stupid, and don't expect everything to happen. The front page is allready pretty decent in my opinion.
