Hey, I'm looking for the female pin connectors that plug into your computer motherboard for the power/reset, etc. I don't need the actual power switch or LED or any of that stuff, just the solderable female plug bit. Anyone know what these are called and where to get them on the cheap?

I looked at my normal modding sites and found nothing. Liquid found the the only thing that I've ever seen. I've never seen just either the pins and or connector. Always a package deal with the wires too.

yea those are tough to find, I save them from everything I tear apart lol.

get one of these from here or microcenter and cut off the switches and LEDs. You can also salvage them from old cases but snipping the leads (leave enough to solder new ones onto)

they are nothing more than .100(2.54mm) pitch female headers. they are available from any electronics distributor. well, maybe no radio shack, but real distributors.

here's some from mouser:

with seperate pins

with pins installed
(these have 6 positions, but can be cut into 2 position units) http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/FCI/68685-306LF/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMsuqxDVcGs5qAID029i6opBSsDjd6Yb8AQ%3d

i would suggest going with the ones from sparkfun though, because they would be easier to work with.

I've bought them from frontx.com before. How many do you need and in what configuration? 1x3, 1x2 etc? I'll check what I have.

Thanks everyone! +Rep for all! To answer some questions, they are for my motherboard, but I need to connect them to this proprietary Dell thing I traced the leads for. I found some case wire kits for really cheap and it might be the best way to go. Thanks!
