So i was shocked and angry to find my computer skipping (again) today... its about 90*f here... and i had an idea... Maybe my wireless card was acting naughty.... lo and behold... i pull it, and i stop my freezing issues... even the lockups in game... so i currently have my laptop linked to my desktop... ICS for the win... and am trying to decide if i should get a USB wifi or another pcie wifi antenna... If i get a USB antenna i can move it a few feet closer to the router and possibly get a better signal... N is a must though, as my "g" laptop barely gets signal in my room... and barely == spotty... Chime in guys, cheap is good, as when i go into my apartment at the end of august i'm running gigabit directly from my router...

What kind of router do you have? If it has extrenal antennas then you can probably buy higher gain ones and get more signal.

Must be an old laptop to not have built in WiFi. 8+ years?

ain't no shame with snaking a cable from one computer, behind the tables, over the closet door, around the corner up the stairs, around a few more corners and upto your table.

Walls are easier to patch. You can also get a nifty faceplate to make it look professional.

Lol... I can imagine this conversation. "Mom? Can I put hardline cat6 in the walls?"
Mom: blank stare...

Dan: Blank stare...

Mom: You want to put cats in our wall?

Dan: How would you do that?

Me: Well I just take a drill a-

Both: NO.

Lol. I'm trying to picture what they would be imagining...it's frightening what happens to the cats. You end up in jail for doing it...

I'd argue that a decent internet connection is worth it though.
