So I've recently been converted to the joys of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, but it's hard to hunt down decent bottles around here.
What I've tried and liked:
Cabin Still, Evan Willians Black, Maker's Mark, Pikesville Rye, Elijah Craig, Booker's (Jim Bean), Heaven Hill White, Woodford reserve, Rittenhouse Rye, Johnny Drum Green, Rip van Winkle, Pappy van winkle, Buffalo Trace, Fighting Cock
Haven't liked
Ancient Age, Four Roses (euurgh), Jim Bean white/black, Bulleit, Wild Turkey
Probably missed a good few there. Especially off the don't like list.
So what am I asking for? Recommendations would be great, and I'm happy to contemplate whiskey swaps for bottles of scotch I can't get here too...

I'm not a bourbon aficionado but I've been loving Red Stag for a while. It's kind of sweet though and some people don't like that. Although I don't think I've done it, I've heard it's very mixable. I was told to try it in an Old Fashioned.

No burbon biscuits in the states, but a hell of a lot of burbon style fans.
there actually supposedly better then the new style internal motor fans because of the gear reduction and they can also go faster i think. but i've only seen them outside of the elitest peoples homes or in old buildings.

You named by two favorites already (Elijah Craig and Makers Mark), but I also like 12-year-old Old Charter. There is a big difference (for me at least) between the 12-year-old and 8-year-old.

Apparently it's been out of production for a year?

And so the frequency of my bourbon consumption is exposed.
That is a shame though, it was a very good bourbon at a reasonable price.

I'll admit, I haven't tried many bourbons. So this thread is interesting to me. I'm more for a good single malt highland scotch but I will have to try some of these!

"A journey of alcoholic discovery." That is classic.
While I can say I've been on a great many of those, I can sadly recall very very few of them. Best of luck.

Might try single barrel or gentleman jack they are both more of a bourbon whiskey than old No. 7. I can't say I am a fan of much of the things you have listed but I do lust for a good Irish Whisky if I could find one.

Been there, done that. Actually, had a gentleman jack tonight because my local place was out of Pappy van Winkle.
Anyone who wants a good Irish or Scotch, I can hook you up with something beautiful if you want to do a 2-way courier?

Very very interested, but can't imagine it would be cheap haha. Not sure in the middle of the bible belt the best I can get is a 10 year old Jameson which I am sure is readily available your way. There was a liquor store up north that had a 200 dollar bottle of crown xr that tempted me hardily but I am not sure that would be to your liking as Crown isn't much of a bourbon.

So, um, I managed to get my uni results a few days early, so it was good I only managed to bust £100... I went for a bottle of very short run single malt scotch, an evan williams single barrel and a bottle of pikesville rye...
