Windows Live Messenger troubles

So recently, I got myself a nice new 1TB hard drive, and decided to make it my primary drive, and put Windows 7 on it. After doing so, I went and downloaded the latest version of Windows Live Messenger. I keep running into problems where seemingly randomly, and ore often after I let it idle for a bit, it freezes and then ends up just restarting. This is starting to get a bit frustrating, as it makes it so I cannot see the messages people have sent me, and just makes it hard to talk to anyone. This seems to happen multiple times a day now. I've searched around online and haven't found any answers or help so far, and I'm not sure what to do.

It's Windows Live Messenger version 2011 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I would, but I've never really liked the third party programs, and too many of my friends use it D:
