Watching the news this morning, one would think he had died.

How I hate mainstream media.

LOL!

I had to swerve to avoid a news anchor who stepped into the street without looking this morning. Their news truck was parked on the corner just outside Apple headquarters, just in front of a "NO Stopping Anytime" sign...

Where the hell are the cops when you need them?

Yeah. Hey people, he's going to be the chairman of the board of directors. Not exactly retiring to a monastery in Tibet.

Oh my GOD!! Steve Jobs changed TITLES!!!!! Call the PRESS!!!!!!

Well it is a big deal for Apple and it's investors. It is NOT just a title change since he will no longer be running the company and will have little input to the day to day operation of the company.

Not that I have a stake in it since I wouldn't buy any of their products in the first place. I think the media is making a circus out of it though.

I can't bring myself to believe that.

I think the media is making a circus out of it though.
Would the majority of Americans rather be informed of hard facts and be kept up to date on current events or be entertained by gossip, hearsay and gross overreactions to menial pop-culture events?

The correct answer to that question is why the media is as it is today.

Goodbye Jobs. Maybe someone else can turn the smug 'Apple Attitude' around and transform it into a more respectable company?... Nah, that would alienate 99% of their customer base!

Well, me either, but time will tell. I don't think he is very well and may not live much longer (but that is just rumor right now).

Interesting. ...though, I can't help but think back to the last time Jobs left Apple (actually left that time). ...Apple bombed while he was gone...and the company he started when he left also bombed...but then they made up, made the iPod, and Apple went on to be bigger and more successful than they ever had been before. ...not exactly sure what we're supposed to take away from that and apply to this time, but hey, that's why I don't do the stock market. :P

the man is one hell of a business man.

A business man that has surrounded his idea with some of the smartest and brightest individuals in there respective fields.

and it shows in the intended devices like the iphone 2 and ipad2 (the originals were crippled devices..that a whole different marketing stratagem though)

I'll hand it to apple, They produce only quality devices. You don't get a s@#t dell with intergrated video and 1GB DDR2-400 when you buy apple. you get a full fleged machine thats more then capable of most anything you want to do.

Now to bad the PC industry wasn't like that. Its the low low end machines that give the PC market a bad name, Mostly because people don't realise how terrible a low end PC is.. they think... "Hey a computer is a computer is a computer" which is hilariously far from the truth.

But anyone who says a macintosh is superior to a PC is a joke.

Lemme show you what quad 3.8Ghz proccessors, dual audio cards, dual video cards, SSD's and ridiculous memory speeds can do in a PC.

It'll violently rape anything you throw at it is what it'll do.

i don't get the point of having dual audio cards.

i have to agree with ever word you typed though.

and to add, i don't dislike apples, i just despise the "holier than thou" attitude most mac users have. it's just like prius drivers.

One of the funniest things I ever dealt with, was my good friend who is a mac fanatic. He made the statement years ago that his system would kill any system with an intel processor ( before apple went with intel). I took him up on that challenge and brought over my old gaming system and proceeded to kill his system in every benchmark. He made the statement that Apple would never build a system with intel processors and he would never buy one if they did.

Well we all know what happened and I took him to task on it when he bought his brand new MAC with intel cpu's. We have never let him forget that.

yup,in all reality, macs are nothing more than last years pc hardware running mac osx. if i run mac osx on my pc, is it still a pc or is it a mac clone? if i run windows on a mac, is it still a mac or is it a pc?

All Macs are (and always have been) PCs despite Apples in-vain efforts to distinguish themselves as different/better. They do look pretty. That's about all they have going for them though.

Want to know something shady? A local art school here *requires* all students to purchase a Macbook. You cannot go to school there unless you own one or purchase one before classes start. Your degree does not matter...it's required of every single student. Is it some software or network limitation? No. The school gets a cash kickback per student from Apple. How many other schools/organizations has Apple bribed? End of story.

that's incredibly shady. i'd probably go out and buy a nice broken one for a few bucks off ebay and then use one of my several laptops i already own.

I can run the television audio on a third monitor with 1st card by itself.

And play a video game or listen to music with the 2nd card with speakers or a headset, and not have the two audio streams interfering with each other.

its awesome for a HTPC/Gaming PC.

FAIL and FAIL.

Might need to read the post again...

Sager NP7282 ≠ Apple Macbook.

... install Mac OSx/ Windows 7 x64 bit Ultimate in a dual boot....then go on my way to school?

Loading OSX on a Sager would violate Apples EULA.

So your theory was shot after the word Sager.. :P

As for it being shady... I dunno .. its a local art school, not a public high school, or state college. It's the individuals choice to attend, and if it was a huge problem, no one would go and the school would go out of business.

It actually is owned and operated by a state college. I know they don't force anyone to enroll there, but they also don't announce in large (or even fine) print in advertisements or promotional material that it is a requirement...they wait until you're set on going there and start dropping such bombs. Who the hell do they think they are to force students to buy a specific brand computer? It oozes a high volume of shadiness... They might as well change their name to 'Apple Art School'.

And the line in the EULA about "you may only install [Mac OS] on an Apple-branded machine" is REALLY what gets to me. It's exactly like saying "you may only install Windows on a Dell-branded machine.

I don't care about drivers or "non-apple hardware being 2nd-best"(hahahahaaaaahaaaaa). It's a blatant..... uh..... What is it?

Substitute 'Gateway' for 'Dell' and then it's exactly like that.
