Without high speed internet and electricity.
The hurricane took out power for two days. I felt my energy supplies draining without access to my lifeforce, sweet sweet electricity.
On the other hand we didn't get it bad at all and thoughts go out to lost loved ones, those dealing with destruction, and those without power still.
It's good to be back on the grid.

In the Winter of '06 we had a horrible ice storm that left us without power for 6 days! My house dropped down to 30 degrees! The sweet sound of my furnace on the sixth day was amazing!

I probably would have started twitching by the fourth day, and who knows what by the sixth.
Taking showers in ice cold water was an experience. I've taken cold showers, but this was absolutely no hot water. I was holding in the screams, lmfao.

Luckily, we had a YMCA membership for that.

We lucked out there, we have a gas water heater. Unfortunately without electricity the gas furnace is pretty much worthless. So taking a nice hot shower and getting out into a 30 degree room SUCKED to say the least.
It's good to hear that you made it through unscathed for the most part. I heard it could have been a lot worse then it ended up being.

Yes, it could have been much worse. In the end it wasn't all that bad. I don't even think it was still a hurricane when it hit us up here.
It will teach me to prepare a little better next time though. In the years we've lived in this apartment the power hasn't gone out for more than ~10 minutes at a time, storm or not, so I figured we wouldn't get affected. Turns out I was wrong, lmfao.
So, you went from ~100*F to ~30*F?
Wake-up juice, anyone?

Ya, seriously. Was trying to not scream through my clenched teeth. Could have been much worse though, so a bit of cold and losing electricity for a bit seems like nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I still couldn't move to the boondocks and live off the land. I'm sure I'd get used to it after a while, but if they don't have electricity and broadband I would sure have a hard time adjusting.
At least there weren't ice chuncks coming AT you through the shower heads.
