I've built a custom case out of wood...only problem is that I've never really painted before...I started with spray paint...and yeah...on wood it dosen't look good. Any suggestions on paint for wood surfaces?

Sand it smooth first, apply primers and sand between each coat. Go slow and build up many thin layers, not one or two thick layers. If the problem is that the grain is showing through, you can use bondo or other surface treatment, such as spray putty, to give you a better surface to work with. Just sand it down smooth before you paint.

Rather than using bondo on the wood I'd suggest using Sanding Sealer (http://www.minwax.com/products/woodprep/sand-seal.cfm) because it might be cheaper (smaller jar), its not as toxic to work with and it will seal the wood rather than building up a veneer over it (i.e easier to sand smooth). Bondo and spray putty are designed for non-poruous materials like steel and plastic so using them on wood is kinda like swatting flies with a hammer.

Good point.

But man, you should see those flies when I'm done with em!

Lol, I'll take some pictures of my house tomorrow. Seriously, it's the most cracked-out place I've ever seen. Literally. Unbelieveable what the speed-freaks that lived here before we bought it did to it.

I'm renting a home that used to have crank and heroin junkies living in it. I understand.

Don't get a lot of wood questions on this forum. I'm glad to see more people are working with it on computers these days.

I know what you're thinking, but you should see what happened to the fly!

(we're actually in the process of tearing the place down - it is unrecoverable, so I've just been salvaging anything worth taking before it comes down)
