I just found this Nikko Stereo Reciever while I was cleaning out our storage space at public storage (my grandpa gave me $50 for doing the job8) ). I was originally going to put it on eBay because I did not know what to do with it. But after I had to take a box fan apart to fix the said fan today, I felt in a modding mood, when it was pointed out by my mother that I did not put the Stereo Reciever on eBay yet, and she would throw it out if I didn't do something with it. I was thinking and thought that I could do a mod for this. Here are some pics to get an idea of what I need to do.

Here is a front view (I could do alot with these buttons, but need to find somewhere for the cd drive).

Here is a top view.

A view of the back, the I/O panel would go back here.

View of the bottom, just to let you see what it looks like.

And finally, where I ran into the problem, as you can see in this picture, it is only 3.5 inches thick, which could cause some problems for pci cards and video cards.

But, as my friend (RangerDanger here on the forums) and I were talking about what I could do, I thought of a solution to the problem of the thickness. As you can see in the first and second picture, there is a "grill" of some sorts on the top of the case for this. I thought that i could cut parts of it out for the cards, so they would stick out of the case, and create a plexi, or acrylic (whichever is easier to work with) "housing" that would just protrude out of the top, and would also show the card, or I could frost the plexi, and put a LED light in each "house" so the frosted plexi would hold the light.

Well, what do you guys think??

if you make it strong enough to support a TFT, do your plan, and put your TFT ontop of it (Im assuming you have a TFT, if not, DON'T FOR GODS SAKE PUT A CRT ON THERE)

Does it work? Why not just use it?

you should look into a micro atx mobo or somthing with an atx riser card. It just turns your card on its side and would make it fit nicely.
