View Full Version : Backup computer acting up

With my laptop needing a replacement HDD, and my main desktop in upgrade phase, I kludged together a backup.

P4 3.0GHz
MSI 845E MAX
1.25GB PC3200
20.x GB SG Barracuda
250W Allied PSU
Ubuntu 11.04

I'm having two major problems that are starting to arise:
1. Characters are randomly garbaging up (like "s" looks like a bold, backwards "B"), and changing color
2. Complete seize-up of keyboard. Lights won't change, keys aren't accepted. Pointer still moves, but wheel and buttons don't work. Restart required.

What would be causing these errors?

Yes, the keyboard works. With other computers, too.

Fresh install, after updates.

Well, a bit of "sudo apt-get autoremove" has partially removed the bad stuff!
