I have been wanting to build a new computer for a while now. it was just never justifieable. But since a rogue screw was left on the mobo while powering up, i no longer have a functioning PC. i work, but most of the money goes to gas, so not much is left for the pc part. that is why i will try to get some sponsors for this project.

the style will be a continuation of my xbox case. back then i was not able to do the plastic bending that will be nescissary for this case.

if you notice the two larger circles in the front, those are fan grills. i am at a loss for what to have as fans. i could have
this one (http://www.ebmpapst.us/allpdfs/3400N%2EPDF)
or this one (http://www.ebmpapst.us/allpdfs/R1G120%2EPDF)
Or this beefy guy? (http://www.ebmpapst.us/allpdfs/G1G085%2EPDF)
I dont like to follow the crowd much and i will have a fan control so any of them could do.
+since they are expensive, i may just use some squirril cage blower fans that i have laying around.

I also got my wicked switches.

alright, they arent actually switches but smt proximity detectors. (big words:D )
they are qt110 single channel switches made by qprox

Can't see that at all... Do you have a scanner? If so, try laying them on the glass and scanning them rather than trying to photograph them without a macro lens.

Anyway, is that all that was in that big box?

thank you xmas tree for the help!
the stuff on the left is 3 soic outline 555 timers and on the right is the qprox QT110 proximity switch (i only have to attach power, ground, a 10nf cap and an electrode!) it is so easy to use. i may even do a tutorial on how to use them (good things to replace your pesky power switch)

btw, the fron of the case is one solid peice and there is paint behind it making it gloss really nice. i have a bunch of smoked polycarb, but it is all lke 5/8 thick. so i will try to get out to my supplier for some nice large sheeps of clear 1/4 inch poly.

also this is my workplace

i have a lot more stuff on it right now (mostly crap) stuff from trying my hand at building a railgun(failed)
an old drill press that i bought when i was in 6th grade. yes i know, i was a strange child.
and another project im working on, the airsoft repeater. basically im making an airsoft gun that works like a paintball gun and even runs on CO2!

but that is all i will go into on that stuff.

any of you guys want hard drive templates for two drives, pm me and ill email them back.

as always comments are appreciated and advice is golden!

as of right now, my computer dosent work...
it might seem to be an oxymoron, but i am having troubles with windows and ubuntu coexisting.
3rd hard drive just happens to have a decent version of ubuntu on it so i will just use this for now, however all my stuff for the case is on the windows drive. :(

BTW: i dont think power pc is a very good name, help me out!

You should be able to access the windows drive from ubuntu, just mount it somewhere.

I agree, power PC isn't a good name, since it's the name of a type of computer.

What's the theme? Power? Powerhouse, Power Station, Power Plant...

looking interesting, looking foreward to how this turns out

basically that was just a filler name. i dont like to ship anything off with a big "unnamed" in front of it. well the theme is Black with frosted lighting and probably the cleanest PC i have ever seen. i'm thinking of taking out the fan idea. they cost a whoping 130$ a peice. i was relying on sponsorship for those, but since i got rejection letters yesterday, i scrapped that plan.

i will go with normal fans with black mesh in front of them.

the inside of the case will have almost no visible cables.

i get out of school in two weeks after exams so this project should finally get off the ground!

The Towa! The Towa of Powa!

(this is much more effective if done in screeching falsetto, with wailing guitar solos, and the exclamation point is made of a lightening bolt. But whatever.)

Its got frost lighting and its black...Hows about Black Ice?

Ice is cold which makes it cool + black ice is veeery dangerous (the worse of all ice im told!) as my nan smashed her car up when she hit a patch of black ice on her way back from the grocery store.

Bad times... very bad.

Man, Towa of Powa needs umlauts all over it. Then it would be an appropriately metal name.

Maybe a bad-ass flaming guitar window cutout...

Oh man, another awesome case I want to make now, lo.

OK while the tower of power is ok, black ice for some reason i would like to stay away from it. i found myself leaning to the art side versus the power side. so maybe i can call it
Dark Art

What do you guys think?

BTW: If anybody wants the .dwg file i can email it. im not quite done, but its getting there. (all done in solids)
