Bob the 8800GT lived a long and healthy life. He drew many pixels, rendered many polys and did a great job with antialiasing. However, today, unexpectedly whilst an epic battle took place in Fallout: New Vegas... his capacitors swelled to the size of a grapefruit and Bob had an attack. He was no longer capable of rendering graphics and even had a hard time rendering the bios screen.

Swollen capacitors... error 43... effed up video even in bios boot... windows recognizes the device, max resolution of 640x480.

*buries card*

I guess it's a good excuse to get a better card...

Found an EVGA 2gb GDDR5 550 Ti for a good deal. Bought that and I am super impressed with the performance. My computer is now .... very fast.

It's a sad day when hardware dies :(

Yeah it went out in an overheated blaze of glory.

The solder points were weeping badly, it got way way too hot.

That's a more glorious death than a lot of hardware gets! Nothing like going out in a blaze of glory during a battle (except the loss of your scores).

I know what you mean. I went from a 7900GT that stopped displaying video on boot to a GTX 470 and was amazed and how much faster Windows and internet browsing was. Enjoy the new card!
