Digital Bridge is horrible. They promise one thing, offer about 90% less, and then if you try to push the issue, their stance will ALWAYS be that it is 'something internal', and to hell with your traceroutes, your pingpoltters, and everything else you can throw at them showing that the issue is indeed on their crappy network.

My advise? Change ISPs now.

att dsl run just now, paying for 6m down 768k up, but this is just past 11 am, ill give them a break. i used to have issues, called them up every couple weeks because of all the issues, its funny i knew more than 75 percent of them about happenings in their company near me.. multiple hours and few weeks later, i have it fixed, and instead of 20 bucks a month, i got 10 for the first year. also, i didn't pay for the first month or two because of this. they are currently re doing their servers in northern california. :D

Is that Bridgemaxx from Digital Bridge? If so, is that a wireless your on? Could explain a lot.

Being a ~200mi radius from the test site, it doesn't narrow it down but if it's like here, there is a couple "major" (1 cable, 1 dsl) providers and then it is all the "crappy" (dial up, radio, cell). You either pay the ridiculous (in most cases) amount they want or suffer.

Is there a closer test location on speedtest? It shows you were ~200mi away which can have a drastic hit on your test especially with a 103ping.

My work.. too bad I can't share some, lol

Closest location <50mi
http://i41.tinypic.com/34io6fm.jpg

~200mi away
http://i44.tinypic.com/2e6by94.jpg

You can see how there is quite a bit of a speed difference even with a low ping at both locations. Now add the high ping to your far location and it's no good.

AmEv

^He is correct. Bridgemaxx wireless.

I think it's about $20/month.

The reason it's ~200 miles away? The closest servers are all about ~200 miles away each.

The webpage is the router/gateway IP. They will be the same and shouldn't cause an issue.

Is the computer your on wired to it or is it strictly wireless? If it wireless, that would explain the 5ms delay just for the gateway.

I would just do a power reset of the router and an ipconfig /renew on your pc and see if that cleans anything up. You can also do an ipconfig /flushdns just in case that changed and your pc is looking for old info.

If I have done a large download, I sometimes have to do an ipconfig /renew and it clears up any slowness I had. I would start there if you haven't already as they are very easy to do and may be the issue.

Trace routing to google.com also brought up my gateway as well. That is how it gets out to check the route to google.

Good Luck, Hope that helps,
Outlaw

It's a hard-wired 100MB/S connection into my wireless router, then another 100MB/S into my modem.

In that case, I would do the power reset on the router and modem and ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /flushdns then see what happens.

Looks like your speeds are back at least.

it should be 'ipconfig /flushdns' (without '')

Make sure there is a space between the G and /

Either way, good deal.

OK, I'm getting a bit annoyed as of right now.

A month ago, they sent us a new modem, thinking that the drops were because the modem was defective; Netflix was causing the router to reset completely.
Skip to now: Minecraft MP is causing the """"""new"""""" modem to crash.
Any place for recommendations?

*On a side note, Minecraft is randomly exiting out, no reason why.
(laptop I'm using has the most up-to-date graphics. ATI denies it ever being made, and Dell has newest drivers from '05.)

Turned out to be bad insulation on the lines along the telephone poles that were grounding out when they slapped against a tree or another line.

By that, do you mean you now have a wired connection from the PC to the modem or router then back to Wifi? Going from Wifi, to router/modem back to Wifi is probably whats killing your connection speeds.

I don't know if this will help, but here's a link (http://www.50states.com/isp/idaho.htm) to some ISP's in Idaho.

may i recommend a cool setup? http://linksysco.com/download.php this makes your router pick up wifi through wireless, and port it through Ethernet ports on the back, you can buy huge gain antennas, mine can barely pick up sac airport, which im guesstimating is 40 miles away as the crow flies.

Interesting for sure. I would just be careful. Depending on which Wifi your piggybacking off of and their monitoring of wireless, you may be noticed. I don't know how the laws are for privately provided wireless, but your router staying connected to a monitored wifi (airport) for more then 24hrs might get noticed. lol

The WRT54G is a good router too (if you have that to use the link on).

I would also be careful with the sites you go to. lol They may have site monitoring too.

In other words, be careful. lol

I've got the main "brick". It's the one having problems. It is connected to a Dynex 54G router.
Then a USB modem. It's the one hitting new speeds. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it doesn't pick up ANY signal from inside my house. At my school (less than 50 yards away), perfect signal.

I have a NetGear 54G router I'd LOVE to turn into a wireless bridge; unfortunately, I've got the 1MB chip, so no DD-WRT. :(

Sending a signal up to ~50ft is a lot easier and more stable then >100+ miles. lol

This. If your house has existing cable wired in, you are golden. I am currently running my main system on wifi, and I have never had much issues with streaming video or playing games. Every once and a while I notice lag issues with BF3, but thats about it. (I bought a wireless N router on black friday too, so that will cut out on that issue a lot I'm hoping)
