Project: Replacement

this mod and worklog is mainly for me but i thought i would share this with you all, it will be short and probably not well organised.. but feel free to have a look :)


For those who don't know me, im Jeff from South Australia, im 18 and have done two almost complete mods.. and they were a bit badly designed so this mod should fix everything and replace my current case and system.

so.. im back, im finally finished school, and have some spare time to myself.. its been a good few years since i started vento, and between school, work, life and everything else that goes on.. i have been using a 90% finished vento as my case for almost two years. and seen as when i originally got this system and as i was 15, i thought it was wise to get a pc shop to build the system and since new, this system has never worked correctly. so. now that i have some funds and some time. sounds like the good recipe for a mod..

as i still like the design for vento i thought i would revise them and make a better case with a similar style and blah blah blah.. im bored..

also.. if you think of a name feel free to mention it, as i have no idea.

i have no design for this.. except roughly like vento..

i made a trip to the shops and bought some supplies.

a decent soldering iron makes all the difference..

next was to buy some materials.

3 two meter lengths of 20x20mm aluminum square tube, and some other aluminum that im no longer using..

next was 8 joiners for the square tube..

some pre-cut aluminium sheets, one 3mm (far left) and the rest only 1mm thick

then i grabbed a donor case from off the shelf of my computers i have gathered over time. this particular one was a freebie from school. sometimes all you have to do is ask.

stripped out the system (and the beefy psu i put in it)

all gone ! ripped out like a rotten tooth.

i cut up the square lengths of aluminum and then popped together this frame..

so i ripped apart the case into all the little sections..

kept what i needed

mainly the motherboard tray, because i decided to ditch the HDD rack.

cut up the I/O panel and made it a good size for the back of my case..

I'm with him, just cut out the full PSU hole otherwise the cooling will be rendered useless.

yeah will be cut out, just haven't decided on a design yet :),
