I got a PC from my old boss before he moved. Nothing fancy, just his old gaming rig. I'm having problems getting it to work. It gets power but I get no display. It doesn't have an onboard video so I used a 7900 and some PCI-E 4x display card but still no soup. I also tried it with the 8800 GTS I sold and that didn't work either. I've reset the CMOS, taken out one of the sticks of RAM and changed video cards.

What should I do next?

Any access to a PCI GPU? Or another PCI-E slot? Could be a bad socket, have you checked for bent/broken contacts?

The 7900 is PCI-E x16 slot and the display card was a PCI-E x4 slot. I'll have to see if there are more than those 2.

are you sure the processor is good?

He said it was working when he gave it to me. I think I have another P4 I can try.

I would lean towards a mobo issue but if you need a p4 or PCI GPU, CPU-if socket 478, I have an old one if you need for testing.

Skt 478
no more then 2.0Ghz w/o HT
400FSB (I think).

PCI GPU
AGP Rage 6
32MB (I think)

I do know both work when last pulled from pc.

Just pm me if you need it.
