I'm buying someone a video card. I'll be spending about $120. I can get a Radeon 6770 or GTX550 Ti. Which do you think is the better buy?

texel rate is 25% faster on the 6770, but memory bandwidth and pixel rate is quicker on the 550. i cant really make a solid recommendation.

The 6770 is just a rebranded 5770, which performs about the same as the 550 Ti:

The 6770 uses less power, if that makes a difference.

I don't trust hwcompare because all of it's tests are "theoretical"

the 6770 == lower power draw and better OC potential. Personally the catalyst software has been better to me than nvidia's drivers.

Hell I'll recommend the hell out of my 5770.

But then again a 550Ti is a rebranded GTX260 (with GDDR5 memory)

I like my 550Ti, but my wife loves her 5770s too. I don't think there's a poor choice to be had.

I personally lean toward the AMD chips, but only because I want the potential for Eyefinity. NVidia's solution, 3d vision or whatever it is, isn't as robust yet.
