Hi there, Ive been into modding for about two years now. Ive done a few cases, mainly paint jobs and some lighting stuff. Nutin too custom. Im in the process of designing my own computer case. Its going to be made mainly out of steel. The only problem that I have is Im having trouble designing the back where the Pci cards stick out and the motherboard stuff plugs into it (back of the case) Im almost ready to start contruction and I was going to just pull that part off of another computer but then I wouldnt have the joy of saying I built the entire thing. Any sugestions?

get a thin piece of steel. Use the back of an old computer as a stencil and mark out where the openings should be. Then just cut it out. You can take off the metal around PCI cards so all you have is the port, that will keep the large holes to a minimum.

There's nothing wrong with using a part that's allready there. The only real point in making a brand new part is if it's for a unique case design, or if the original materials are really shoddy.

Hmm well thanks for the help, I think im gona go with the stencil technique like you had suggested, if not then ill just cut out the old one I have. I have one more quesion for now, I want to have removable hard drive bays and if possible removable cd rom drive bays, space isnt an issue beacuse this case will be as tall as a full tower, and a lil longer and wider. Im not too sure how to make the bays removable, any ideas?

Sure, thats easy. You could put tabs or something at the bottom/top/front/sides/wherever of the drivebays, so they just screw into the case. That way you just unscrew like four scres holding the drive cage in, and the whole thing pops out.
