My roommate text's me today and tells me he might be moving out soon. I tell him, cool as it's good to hear that he found a better place and I'm genuinely happy for him about that. He just wanted to give me a heads up so I could prepare to do whatever.
I hear back from him later. Turns out he's moving out before the end of the month so he doesn't have to pay rent again This leaves me with about 8 days to find a new place or pay $800 bills and rent next month (Which isn't even possible for me). I have no freaking clue what to do now. I guess I'm going to get a storage place this weekend and try to find a friends couch to crash on.
Id love to move out of the area and i suppose this is a good opportunity but that doesn't really leave me with time to line up a job or anything.
I can't even describe how ****ty I'm feeling right now.

Are you both on the lease? If he is on the lease with you he has a legal obligation to pay his portion of the months rent. Say the lease ends in March than he is obligated to pay until march. I'm sorry your having a ****ty day! I hope it goes better!

We don't actually have a lease so we can pretty much bail whenever. Though the landlord doesn't even know my name since i moved in after my room mate.

If I can try and provide a constructive solution, talk to him about it, explain that you're screwed if he does that, and ask if he can at least be reasonable.
In the UK, you wouldn't be able to be evicted at this stage even without a lease - look up your rights in terms of rental law.

i believe it's similar here. i know in maryland you have to give a 1 month notice of eviction whether your tenant has lease or not. so even if you can't make rent, you still have a month to find a place to stay.
now of course laws are different everywhere, but i'd look into that and also take dr. walrus's advice and talk to your roommate. if he's a friend then you might be able to work something out.

I don't think there's gonna be any talking him in to staying for another month. He kinda just does what he wants and he's moving in to the new place with his Girlfriend. I'd honestly feel kind of ****ty making the landlord Evict me. He's a pretty cool guy.
I think I have a plan though.
I'm gonna try to get a storage unit Wednesday. I could probably fit, literally everything i own, in to maybe 3 of those 12 Gallon plastic tubs with the exception of my clothes, furniture, and necessities.
I could probably have it all moved out in a couple hours. I've had a few friends offer to let me stay at their place until I found something so I'll probably do that until i can get some cash saved up and figure out were I want to go.

having had tenants leave unexpectedly on me in the past, i'd say talk to the landlord and let him know you are going to move out. don't just "skip out" in the middle of the night. the landlord might be willing to work with you as well if he's a cool a guy as you say. i mean, he might be more interested in at least getting half of the rent rather than getting no rent.

/\ This.
Before you do anything drastic like moving everything into a storage unit, talk to your landlord. Explain the situation to him and he might be willing to work something out with you. I know if it were me I'd rather have half rent for a month or two rather than losing a good tenant (I assume ;) ) and risk several months without a tenant. Worst case he says no and you go on with your plan, but I would be surprised if he didn't try and work something out, especially since it's not your fault that you're in this situation.

We talked to the landlord about it the other day and he just asked that we be out by the first. I already have most of my stuff packed. (Exception being the computer >.>)
I got a storage unit today and just need to find someone with a pick up truck to help me move the couple pieces of furniture that wont fit in my car. Though I just realized today how much stuff I don't own that I'm going to need to buy when I get my own place.

Well if you lived in Oklahoma you'd have access to a Ford F-450 with a 18' flat double truck trailer.
I'd not only move your couches, I'm sure it'd move that whole apartment building and your car at the same time.
