View Full Version : I can't thank him enough....
Once again, my IT teacher is very generous.
He had a box of parts that said "Take me, but only if you truly need it". Found a 6' 1394 cable that I needed (for my external DVD drive).
The other major thing that he handed me:
He had a HDD that was acting up in his server (thank goodness for RAID 5!). It wasn't dead, but wasn't reliable.
We found out, it was only in a certain section that it was bad.
So he handed it to me.
Add another 2TB of storage space.

That's fantastic! And in all honesty, I've been on the other side of that and you're probably doing him a favor by reducing the amount of faulty/old equipment he has to deal with. Short of throwing stuff in the dumpster, it can be annoyingly difficult to get rid of old stuff.
(I like Cale's solution LOL...sadly my wife would never feel comfortable with me owning guns...sigh....)
I love raiding the end-of-year dumpster pile.
We're not quite there to be getting LCDs in the pile. Still a few CRTs hugging in the classrooms.
A little reg-tweaking, and.....
