View Full Version : Can't seem to get ahead.

I came home to find my 2tb hard drive screaming like a cicada. I've ordered another and hopefully I'll be able to get the other one in the freezer and when the replacement comes in get the info off (it wasn't that important). Still, it's a $100 down the drain.
Now . . . I think I'll end up getting another 2tb drive and an SSD along with this product (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817997011) from silverstone and transfer my OS onto that setup.
Still, it stinks. It's money I don't want to spend and files I didn't want to lose.

I'd have to check while at work tomorrow. The employee discount system can only be accessed there

Alrighty sweet, cuz I just had the drive I was gunna put in my laptop die, and I don't wanna pay ridiculous amounts for a new drive lol
The best way to get ahead? Use the one you already have.
Seriously, keep that HDD alive long enough 'til it can be replaced. Then sell the controller on eBay, rip the magnets out, target practice.

It's currently not working. My hope is that after some time in the freezer I can revive it enough to transfer the files to a new drive.

I might just take you up on that. If you can get a 2Tb drive for ~$100 or less and an SSD for less than $1 a Gb, and idk if microcenter sells that silverstone raid thing, but if you could get that for less than $40, then I'd totally be in . . . once I have a little money.

2TB is hard to find under $100 now. I just bought 2 from someone and it was $190 shipped for both.

I don't get much of a discount, most times none at all on SSD's
Any size?

If I ever end up with the cash to put together a big new system, I'll have to hit you up for parts shopping. :-)

If you don't get a big discount then it's no big deal. I already owe you one for being willing to get me anything.
