I'm the music director at church and found this hymn in the hymn book I'd never heard before. After listening to a midi of it I really liked it but wanted to hear what it would be like if sung, so I recorded all the parts this morning for fun. Here's the result: http://modsandends.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/How-Long-O-Lord-Most-Holy-and-True.mp3
It's not like I spent a ton of time on it, but it sure was fun. It could be better, and there are three more verses, but I figured I would share what I have already.

Would you care to put the other verses together too? That sounded great.

Yeah, I'll have to wait when I'm home alone so I can have the TV and heater off.

I like it! I remember listening to this hymn in church a few times.
EDIT: Your mike sure has a lot of hiss on it :P

It's mostly just room noise. The rest is probably me doing it wrong. It's a Shure SM58 hooked up with an X2u. It's ultra sensitive though, even with the gain turned down. I'll see if I can't mess around and get that fixed though.

lol I am no recording expert. It probably is just the sensitivity of the mic. Maybe try using a sock or something over it? just an idea.
panty hose with a coat hanger make for a nice cheap pop cover and a box will isolate room noise. i had used this technique a few times in a home studio.
also, you can try tossing a de-esser on this track to clear it up
ps, I'm back everyone ;)

The mics I'm using don't really need a pop cover, although I would totally go with the pantyhose method if they did. I'll try the de-esser. I did a de-noise which did a pretty decent job.
Hmm . . . looking in audacity I can't find a de-esser.
In any case, I'll try some stuff and post what I do here.

Did some more stuff. The white noise you hear is just room noise; probably my noisy computer really. You can also hear my chair squeak, haha. In any case, the de-noise tool does a pretty decent job. If you could only hear the before you would know.
Here's another one, full tune. It seems I can't agree with myself on when I should come in and cut off. Oh well, this is all just for fun. There are four parts on this, which I doubled up for a total of 8 tracks, which fills it out a little and allows me to breathe every now and then.
