This may be a bit of a silly question, but it is one I haven't run into yet.

I have an old computer I'm remodelling, and want to put in a second HDD. I have both HDDs, but nowhere to mount the second one - the first uses a strange proprietary mounting system. There is room in the top under the CD drive for a second drive, but it is a 5.25" cage, and the HDD I have is a 3.5" one.

I've been looking for an adapter I can buy that will allow me to use the top area, but the only thing I've found so far is this one. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817991002) Would this work? From what I can tell, it should, but I'm not entirely sure.

Rank,

It should do what you want! I've used some very similar to that one (didn't have the rubber mounts or the screws already in it but same basic design) In older machines. Sliped right into the CD bay.

Good Luck,

Thanks, CBB. I figured they would work fine, but then I started second-guessing myself and... you know how it goes. You start to over-think something and you never end up happy.

Trust me I know how the Knit picking makes you second guess every little detail!

I had some here lying around useless, these things can be extremely useful when you dont have enough place for another hard drive :)

What you picked out should work just fine.
I was going to suggest buying a couple of nexus-disktwin dampeners (http://www.xoxide.com/nexus-disktwin-dampener-black.html) because they'l do 3 things for you. 1) reduce vibration. 2) aide cooling with side heat sinks. 3) adapt the drive to the bay.
But I've seen you already ordered.
