I need a Prime eligible mouse for no more than $35. These are the only one's I could find that are worth anything. If you have another mouse to suggest, please do. Otherwise, vote away!

well, i have a question. do you have larger hands? i have the sidewinder, one that looks just like that, with switchable weights and its somewhat hard for some of my friends with normal to small sized hands to use. i love it. on that note, i would recommend it, however, i am always a fan of razer, especially if you don't have large hands.

I have the CS Storm Sentinel and I wouldn't change it for anything else. easy macro recording, I've never had an issue with the software, sexy lighting, lcd display, weights, it's a beast.

My hands are about medium sized I suppose. They aren't small, but they aren't large either. Now my younger brother on the other hand has large hands which can wrap entirely around a football and he's about 4 years younger than me, so maybe I do have large hands but they seem smaller in comparison...

But I've always used really small laptop mice and I think I want to try something a bit bigger. I don't really like that only 3 fingers are on the mouse whereas my thumb and pinky are dragging on the table, I just like the size of those mouse in usage and portability. But, meh. Time for a big boy mouse I think. lol

Unfortunately they no longer sell them! Though there is that Xornet... Hmm.

So what's the difference between high-end optical and high-end laser? The CM mouse and the Razer mouse are pretty nice, but it's optical tracking, albeit high-performance optical. The Sidewinder is high-performance laser, but lower DPI than the Razer and on par with the CM.

CM - 2000 DPI - Optical
Razer - 3500 DPI - Optical
Sidewinder - 2000 DPI - Laser

I can't make heads or tails of all of this. I've always just used logitech laser notebook mice.

sometimes the type of tracking affects which surfaces you can use it on, i believe, and high dpi only matters if you like high sensitivity.

I love my sidewinder. No issues with it at all.

I'm a little late to the party.... but after running ms, corsair, RAT, and a couple other "gaming" mice i can say that after 3 years with my razer i will never go back

I decided to get the CM Storm Xornet. I was going to get the Sidewinder, but the Prime eligible version was $45 while the one I linked to was $40 with normal S&H, making both out of my price range by an unfortunately small amount. So I opted for the $26 Xornet with free 2-day shipping. The Razer was nice, but it was just a bit too plain and basic.

But I also noticed that I seem to naturally have a claw like grip on my mice, so I think this was probably the best one for me. The only problem with it seems to be that it doesn't have that bit of cable protection where the cable connects to the mouse, meaning it could fray or break over time. I wonder if there's a way to fix that? Maybe I can take a bit of heat shrink tubing and split one end of it. Take that end and put it up against the mouse itself with a tiny bit of super glue and shrink it.... hmm. Must be some way to do it.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe I should sleeve the cable? That might look pretty cool. :o

Edit: What size cable sleeve do I need to do that for a mouse cable?

You'd want pretty small sleeve but you'd have to desolder the cable since sleeving that size isn't designed to fit over USB plugs.

EDIT:

sleeve -- min -- max
1/8" -- 3/32" - 1/4"
1/4" -- 1/8" - 7/16"
3/8" -- 3/16" - 5/8"

You could use a generic rubber grommet for strain relief - over, under, or instead of a sleeve.

A little more ghetto but surprisingly effective is just neatly wrapping a long strip of electrical tape to build some squishy firm black thickness at the strain point. One mouse I repaired with this low-budget improvised method has remained 100% functional for years while several other better mice have failed. Sometimes low-tech fugly ideas just work.

If it's not too late to exchange your new Storm, I'd recommend a Gigabyte M8000X Ghost Xtreme (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3314#ov) gaming mouse. Right now about $55 through NCIX; the technical specs beat every other gaming mouse I could find, awesome software and functionality, looks marginally cool, and definitely mod-worthy. I'm pretty impressed with mine, the only possible negative is that it's slightly on the largish side so better suited for "claw grip" than "palm grip" users.
