View Full Version : Looking for a weather/water-proof tablet case. Suggestions?
Picture a tablet mounted on a motorcycle. I want a hard-case that will provide it with sufficient protection that I don't have to worry about it.
I have not purchased the tablet yet, and am open to suggestions, but I am leaning towards the Galaxy Tab 7, as it has the feature-set (3G, wifi, bluetooth, gps) that I want, and is about the size I want.
I did some looking around, and the only thing I found that looks like what I want is this case for the iPhone.

This is basically exactly what I am looking for, but the iPhone will in no way meet my requirements.

Interesting. I'll have to give them a look. That would let me just worry about the impact protection, which an Otter-case or similar would do nicely.

The Defender series from Otterbox are nearly entirely enclosed cases. I had one for my iPod Touch. The only way water was going to get into there is if I dropped it into a bucket of water and let it sit for a good few seconds. But I used it in the rain all the time and it never got wet on the inside.
They make the Defender series for: Xoom, Playbook, Galaxy Tab, Streak, iPad... I'm not sure if there are any others.
Though... I'm not sure if the Defender series is any different for tablets... But if they aren't, then it's water-resistant and drop-resistant. I've chucked my iPod across the room before and it wasn't even damaged. :o

Also look at the Toshiba Thrive 7.
I'll take a look at it.
lol at the ziploc...there are actually a lot of waterproof "cases" out there that are just glorified ziploc bags...unfortunately that won't even remotely cover my needs. ;)

Maybe just use one of those vacuum sealers for freezing food? lol
That'll crush the device.

Google "rugged tablet case" or "rhinoskin tablet case" to see countless options; the most durable ones seem to usually proclaim they meet MILSPEC this-or-that. It's difficult to be specific without knowing which tablet device you're considering.
