Yesterday I turned 23.
Everyone wanted to go out Saturday night but I slept through my alarm set for 6PM. (I had to take a nap because I hadn't slept yet from the day before.) Needless to say, didn't go.
Sunday rolls around and I had plans for the gun range then a couple hours at a club I used to work at.
Well... my buddy told me he wanted to relax before his 9 hour bus ride up north because his work is sending him up there for school and he was scared to fly. My other buddy had his son until 7pm but his ex ended up leaving his kid with him so he couldn't go.
Everyone else was lame, hungover from the night before or working.
I figured I had to do SOMETHING so I loaded up for the range. I usually like having a small group of 3 or 4 people to enjoy myself but I had a BLAST! So relaxing... I think I've reached that age where birthdays don't really matter.:D
Probably a good thing I didn't go out last night since the only thing that's hungover is my thumb after loading 400 rounds. :whistler:

yup, the only birthday that matters now is 25 when your insurance rates go down. you now have nothing else to look forward to but getting old and dying, lol.
btw, happy belated birthday.

I got over birthdays long before I even turned 16. I don't remember the last birthday I was really excited about. I just don't like to have the attention on myself, although I do like a good party.
My 19th birthday was pretty sweet. I was at college and didn't have many friends at all and nobody knew when my birthday was, so I was fairly certain that it would go unnoticed. I spent some time with a high school friend who was also at college with me and then some other time with a crush (now my wife), but the best thing was a package from my family.
It was small and had lots of handmade cards and silly family stuff like that, but there were two huge items in that small box. The first was a geode from my 11 year old (at the time) brother. He collected rocks and minerals and that geode was probably his favorite item from his collection, so although I'm not that interested in rocks, I really got what it meant for him to give that to me.
The second thing was a 20gig ipod. It had no color screen or anything, but was the current gen at the time. I just didn't expect anything like that at all, and the other contents of the box totally made me think that it would all be handmade, fun, family stuff. I had never realized before getting that ipod what a hassle it had been carrying around my huge CD collection in one of those binder things.
Worst birthday? Idk, I can't really think of any that were bad because I'm a really positive person, and I don't have any expectations for anything. I'm feel grateful (and sometimes guilty) for anything I get. My life is pretty awesome, so I really feel like I should be doing stuff for other people.
Like my 16th birthday, where instead of having a party for me, I had a video game party with some tournaments and prizes. I paid for all the prizes, which included video games and some handheld game-and-watch systems. As it turned out, lots of people came and brought me stuff even though I said not to. It just goes to show that when you do things for others you get more in return.

:stupid:
Don't really make any big deal about them. I don't really expect my friends to give me anything for them, either.

Although I like getting others gifts or treating them to fun, I don't like getting gifts because then I feel like I owe the person something... An excuse to get together and have fun is what I was after initially. After a range trip alone, problem was solved. :P
I hope I didn't come off to be crying because I wasn't showered in gifts or smothered with attention. I was just curious of others experiences and figured I'd share my most recent to kick it off.

For starters, you didn't come off as crying or whining at all.
Secondly, I felt guilty after that party. I had told people not to bring me anything, heck, I hadn't even mentioned that it would be my birthday, but they asked what the occasion was and they probably would have felt guilty not getting me anything, so I graciously accepted. It was fun.

My last birthday (a week and a half ago :P) was spent with my son and family, a nice quiet affair. Which was great, since I had been on an 8 day bender from Las Vegas/My buddy's wedding. lol. I usually end up just celebrating my birthday (now that I am over 21) on St. Paddy's Day. Works out well. Plus I usually get a free Irish Car Bomb or two at midnight on my birthday. lol
