Yes, they are a trusted website by every one I know, and almost for sure every one on the forums. He might still be new and I can understand where if he is about to drop 500+ bucks on stuff he would want to make sure.

Yep. Newegg is one of *the best* online retailers out there, aside from Amazon. However, concerning PC equipment, they are the best around period. They have great shipping, great return policies, great customer service, great prices... They're easily one of the best retailer companies around.

I've personally ordered over $2k worth of PC parts from them about a year ago, among other things here and there over the past couple years.

I can vouch for the 'Egg.
It isn't laden with cheap Chinese components (like Amazon sometimes does), and the prices are some of the best out there.

I'll vouch for them too - I've never had a bad experience with them, even when a new router I ordered died a few days later. They got it switched out for me, no problems at all! They're pretty much the only place I order online.

that being said, i've spent easily over 4k myself there... love em, only ever one customer service hangup, but in the end they took care of me. :devious:

however, are you going to be building? if so, do you have a friend that knows computers well enough to choose and assemble parts? or do you? because with the question about newegg, it arises a concern. please note i am only trying to be constructive with saying this, and i always recommend building your own system. just look up DIY info, and ask if you have questions on here, this is one of the most helpful forums on the web.

True but most of the good deals are instore only.

I look for major components on Amazon to see if I can get a better deal. Some times you can. For parts like fans and Watercooling I buy from Performance-PCs or FrozenCPU.

They are reliable, but on a customer service level they are a shadow of what they once were. Shipping is a tossup. You may either get a tiny item shipped in a huge box (excess), or a hard drive tossed in a box half full with peanuts.

They lost the personal touch they used to have before they became a huge business, but for the most part are just as reliable as any other big name etailer.

A fair amount of that is builds for other people though, so it's not all my money. Otherwise I should really have a much nicer computer than I do now. $1000 a year buys a lot of computer.

One thing I really like your mods (and I hope you don't take this the wrong way) is that you get them done. They aren't always the prettiest things, but you get an idea and finish it quickly. My ideas are always attached to perfection and a complete lack of funds, so they rarely even get started.

You've done nearly 50 mods now. That's like $123 per mod. I know you've spent money other places. But still, that's pretty cheaply done.

I'd go back to doing most of my purchases at Microcenter as there's something about having a physical store close to you, but they have absolutely zero m-itx motherboards. Until they give me that option I'll just stick with buying the loss leader cpu's.

i used to love just walking around comp-usa to get stuff. but now the only brick and mortar stores close by are staples and office depot. i think there is a microcenter further south of where i work, but i've never been there. and it is an hour and a half from home.
