I decided to buy a Lian Li PC 70 (hopefully this friday), and I want to mod it.
Without any more say, here are my plans (my first sketchup plans so please be wary):

This is the overall view of the case, I plan on cutting a big portion of the side panel, and putting a big plexi window which covers the whole side panel and I also plan on painting the whole thing black. By the way, the black device on the front is the total watts viewer from Thermaltake.
The blue part on the front is a piece of plexi covering the 3 bays at the bottom which will be home to this LCD display (http://www.pc-cooling.ch/product_info.php?cPath=7_287&products_id=3366) The tube things at the bottom are white Cathodes, I hope to elevate the case so that light appears from under. There will be 9 80mm fans and 1 120mm fan (if budget allows)

On the top I plan on having 2 blow holes along with two white cathodes, these will be covered by frosted plexi (I didn't forget the fan grills, just couldn't find any sketchup models for them).

And this is a view from the back, NOTE: the big hole is for a 120 mm fan, but I don't know if I'll leave it there.

And on the plexi window I plan on having some kind of frosted design, I want to hide those drive bays which don't add very much whilst still having the whole side panel in plexi, so here is what I came up with:

It's sort of like scan lines, the gray areas will be frosted.

It's what I have right now until I have more time for the sketchup model, I would love to have some of your feedback and I would love if you would point out the problems you see. Thanks,

As a side note, I plan on having Red, White LED fans, but the PSU has a blue LED fan.

very nice, are you sure your measurments on those pictures are correct? If so i think i might get one of those cases.

suggestions: Paint the case inside and out. It will look so much nicer. I was thinking red with black or black with baby blue would looking good on this

I would get rid of the frosted plexi on the top, but its your mod not mine

Also maybe a layer of frosted plexi going on top of the bottom cathodes and underneth the tops ones would be sweet, almost iluminaating the whole case with a glow from top and bottom. In my head im somwhat thinking of a sapceship.

Anyways, whatever you deside, im sure it will be great.

Please excuse my spelling, its late and im lazy

That DVD drive looks good. Any chance you have just that and the HD in their own files? If so, could you email them to me? Looks like a cool idea.

Yes, these are the exact measurements to the milimeter of the original case, excluding the thickness of the actual aluminium which I couldn't find.

I think I will paint to whole thing inside out black, maybe the inside really dark red. What is your e-mail addy? Add me on msn @ nicolas_baumann@hotmail.com if you want the files.

About the plexi on the top, I am not too sure about it myself, I will see what's better.

If you are going to paint the inside of the case, paint it white, this could match your white cathodes, and Ive seen somewhere (cant remember where) that someone had painted the inside of his case yellow, and it did lowers his overall comp's temps... well for sure, his comp was in a sunny environment, but ;)

Lol, that's something new, the color of the paint reduces the temp.? lol
I was thinking about white, I wll have to think about it.

Just starting playing with sketchup today, and damn it's good! I've got a project coming up (case wise) and this will really help!
