I've tried to look for some sort of similar idea being discussed on this forum, but have yet to find it.

I'm new to modding, but not to shopwork or computer repair, so everyone doesn't have to be completely easy on me. I'm thinking of a =0O PLEXI mod where I mount the motherboard with brackets that make it somewhat seem like it's 'floating'. I'm even thinking of floating a few fans around the motherboard and mounting it at an angle.

The motherboard that most likely will be used is a Gigabyte K8VM800M (Yes, a 754; I know it's discontinued). It's approximately 9.61 inches by 8.67 inches, rounded up. The cube will probably be 16" by 16" by 16".....

My point is, I'd like all input on the Floating Point. I'm sure it's not the most original of ideas, but it mustn't have been done many times before because I can't find the concept discussed anywhere.

Well I just need a little bit of clarification on your idea, because I see two here. Do you want to float all the components in a sort of random, suspended-in-time way (nothing lines up) or are you making the components sit as normal, just hiding all the brackets so that it seems like they are floating?

several people have suspended their computer parts in air using various solutions of wires. perhaps hanging your mobo using nylon fishing lines would work? Using a strong enough one. The only issue is see with that would be vibrations from fans but that might not be too much of a problem.

You could probably also hang the mobo in any direction you want. just adjust the length of the lines holding it.

Or, possibly, if power-management permits, rotate the mobo slowly around some pivot point by a motor connected to the lines holding the mobo.
