Well,
im going to stealth the drives for my mod, and reroute the button,
im just wondering, could i wire in a switch instead of a button?
or would that not work since a switch is like 1-2, whereas a button sequence is 1-2-1?

Not sure what you mean by button sequence, but any normally open switch will work.

ok
1 = up position
2 = pushed
for switches descript.
1 = down
2 = up (on)
so when you open the drive, its being activated by the 1-2-1 of the button...
so if i flick a switch, itll auto close because its still on 2?
or maybe the case will be, it stays open until i go back to 1 with the switch
ill buy a switch for like 80/c/ to expieremnt today

You need a momentary switch.

A quick test would be to hold down the open close button on your cd rom.
I just did the test, with mine, the tray wont open or close untill i release the button. So if i hooked up a toggle switch to mine the tray wouldnt open untill i fliped the switch on and off (flip 2 times).
