I'll just start by saying that I don't have $5000 and I won't have a spare $5000 to spend for a long long time.

But . . . I was wondering what you guys would do with $5000. For the sake of fun, don't just say 'pay off student loans, car, etc.' That's what I would also do realistically. I'm wondering, down to pennies, how you would spend all $5000 on things that you would normally not get because your money goes elsewhere. Stuff like video cards, monitors, comics, art, fancy paint jobs on your motorcycle, candy, travel. Be specific. No estimating.

I'll post later. I've got to go finish roofing my shed.

I'd get a quad-socket motherboard for my case. It can handle it, little to no problem.
Then 4 16-core server processors.

Then get 2 GTX690s.

Then I'd get a 3-to-6-loop watercooling system.

Then I'd get a 1500W PSU to handle it all.

Then see what I had left, go from there.

I doubt $5000 would cover all that:

2x GTX690 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130781) = $2000
4x 16 core CPU's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113033) = $2200 +
Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813151219): $800

There's your $5000 already, without RAM, storage, cooling or PSU.

Alright, I'm not sure if I have $5000 worth of small things on my want list, but I can always add more since that's the game.

Monitor Stand: $70
Livelight Project PCBs: $20
Benchtop Router: $100
Stereo Tube Amp Kit: $225
SNES Powerpak: $145
64drive Retroactive: $200
Walking Dead Books 4-7: $80
Razer Hydra PC motion controller: $117
Electro-Harmonix 2880 Super Multi-track Looper: $400
Scissor Boom Mic Stand: $50
Lego Minifigures: $120
Last Night on Earth expansions: $200
Native Instruments Maschine: $600
Heil PR40: $325
Logitech C920: $75
Fire Pit Ring: $130
Radeon HD 7970: $480
Sun Shield Sunglasses: $8
Cheap Slave Flash: $10
Fostex 4" Full Range Drivers: $80
Old Geezer Art Print: $30
4x Portal 2 Turret Flashlight: $64
Blue Canary in the outlet by the Lightswitch: $13
Cave Johnson Portrait: $40
2 Tier Add on stand for my 2nd keyboard: $24
30" Bending Brake: $65

Okay, so I'm only up to $3671. Shipping would kill a lot of that. I would say something like . . . build a new front deck/porch or something like that to kill off the remaining $1300, but that would be breaking my own rules. I'll add more later I guess. This is harder than I thought, or maybe just tedious to list. There are certainly more books I would like, but I don't want to list them. I could also add something like a tablet, but it's hard to say what one I would want to get. Windows Surface? Ipad? Android something?

3D Printer, Laser Cutter, Reflow Oven, PCBs, build my file server (probably the cheapest thing on my 'list' xD), more electronics stuff and a DSLR. All that would probably cost more than the $5k.

I'd buy AT&T stocks and spend the dividend checks once a quarter. Or maybe let it compile a while and put the money back in AT&T stocks and then enjoy more money later :)

CNC machine. Definitely a CNC machine. And start working on parts for a larger laser cutter.
