Zen Xtra to Portable HD

I have an old Zen Xtra sitting here collecting dust, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to salvage the hard drive from it and turn it into a USB hard drive?

Just plug in the USB. download a trial version of Partition Magic, and format it to NTFS or Fat32

ive got the same thing sittin around, i screens busted on mine but im pretty sure the drives fine. i was thinking of takin the drive out and using it for a mod or something, im pretty sure its just a regular laptop drive in there.

i know a guy who does that and all you need to do is plug it in.

of course, he has a rio and not a zen, but it still works. 4gb thing. pretty awesome, imho

I have a 30gb Zen Xtra with a screen that is very, very dead, and I want to do something useful with it. Anyone got any ideas?

make a case out of acrylic?

and put some LED's in there, and power it off USB?

Ill bet you could get a ext. HDD case off of ebay for like 10$, rip the little PSU out of their, and the USB unit...
