Let me first begin with a disclaimer. This thread is not supposed to be a war for/against religions or otherwise any arguments. This thread is intended to be a meaningful deep thinker thread, to produce discourse in favor of intellectual thought. Any hatefully/incitingly worded comments will be deleted. This is not meant for an argument of whose side is right or wrong, it is just some musings I have come up with while looking at the stars. While I would consider myself as non-religious, I have known some of the best deep thinkers to come from both sides of the “wall”. As with any following, there are a few “bad apples in every bucket;” that is to say, some people, religious or not, you can always have some dumb****s who make a bad name for any following. I only request the comments are well thought out, and have meaning, or shed some light with a well thought out opinion on a previous comment.
On my drive, I stopped to stare at the stars for quite a bit. First, I must say in terms of the known universe, we are smaller than anyone could ever fathom. That said, I believe it is quite foolish to think we are the only planet ever to sustain life. Whether you believe life came from a singular “god” or we evolved from cells on a scientific matter, my opinion is the latter. I find it hard to believe there is a singular god of any sort, for multiple reasons I will save for another thread. But one has to think from the scientific standpoint, how did the big bang begin? Will we ever know? Some theory’s think the universe is like a balloon, expanding and collapsing. I find that hard to believe, from a variety of perspectives. Are there similar universes out there?
My other thoughts lead to complex beings. How have millions of cells come together to create one thinking, evolving being? How is there such huge diversity in nature, even when we all evolved from the same basic cells? I understand the evolution to cope with your environment perspective, but think about the brain, central nervous system, and how it makes us work. That is so hard to understand. The basic cells needed to replicate life. The compassion and things we call “feelings” or “emotions” how did those come to be? If we were carnivores, we wouldn’t care for anything but our own species. If we were herbivores, the result would be much the same. We are a special mix of the two, and the only species on the planet to “evolve” to a higher level of thought. We are hunter gatherers, yet we still have compassion for injured animals of different evolution. With progress come many more problems. We invent X, it causes problem Y. we invent a solution for problem why, it causes smaller problems A, B, and C. are we that much more advanced? We invent technology, and the progress we achieve leads to other problems such as laziness and depression. We need exercise to stay fit and healthy, yet we all have desk jobs, drive everywhere, and eat on the go. Are such advancements really advancements, or anchors? Time will tell. Feel free to include your thoughts on any or all of this musing, I await your pensive response for productive discourse.
