Red, white and black are the themes on the phone, so anything along those lines would be good. Or, just turn the white windows logo red with that subtle gradient, or the whole thing for that matter.

I'm just terrible with photo editing of any kind apparently. I tried for a good hour with no luck at all. It all looked... like it was done in Paint, because it was. lol

I'm certainly no pro with GIMP, but if you do a layer with the gradient you want, then drop that logo onto another layer and turn the white part to transparent, that should do it. Couldn't give a step by step method though. You'd have to cruise the online docs on how to do that.
