well i just feel like doing this right now, even though its an ungodly hour of the morning here and i have things to do tomorrow. actually this morning now.

i want to know/see what people do to occupy their minds when they're just sitting around.

as an example, during class i draw and write two sided stories when i get bored. im going to scan some of these to put in here tomorrow. its great stuff. two sided stories means i fold the paper in half the long way, write about one thing on one half, and write about something else on the other half, and see what kind of jumbled result i get. the drawings.... well those are incoherent and sometimes quite disturbing, mostly just strange though.

i want to see what you guys do. any interesting writing and drawing out there as well? it doesnt even have to be paper related. anything that lets you express creativity (and preferably excluding computers, because its a given if you're here) will do. painting, eating, screaming, destruction... its all good and valid. so lets see what you got.

maybe we'll even get an art-off going. ill definitely get competitive with my drawing. id be glad to, i havent doen too much recently, and i really DO need some entertainment.

I create interesting 'novel' characters in my head, and pit them against each other. One of these days I might write a book about them.

When i'm home I play my guitar to pass time (blues, heavy metal, jazz, swing, rock, annoying repetitive scales).

At work, it's TBCS. :D or doodle if I'm out of an internet connection. The doodles are usually small intermingled lines and areas.
Or, finding new ways to visualize or re-analyze data, which technically is work, but not completely related to what I should be doing and it usually involves php, mySQL, perl, R, and / or laTex. I may be a geek but I find it relaxing to fiddle with those kinds of stuff.

I draw, play games (probably too much), I used to play really awful music, listen to tunes and podcasts and such. I used to build models, but don't have the workspace at the moment, but am looking forward togetting back into that creative area soon. I'm a big gaming enthusiast, though, and it tends to occupy a lot of my time.

I colect car parts, at the moment i have a truck diferential on mi desk(i see where tha gearhead part comes :rolleyes: ) i have a cam shaft a piston from a airplain engine(those are the most interesting stuff) my garage is cramt with them! so thats me is good enought :D plan an buying a gt40 kit but its out of my pocket range at the moment but thats a nother story:rolleyes:

If im really bored ill pick up a pencil and paper and just start drawing something, i have no idea what im going to draw when i do it, i just put the pencil on the paper and move it then decide what it looks like and cary on lol

I used to paint warhammer figures, i got quite good, id say competition standard not wanting to appear big headed (pics if you like ;) ) but i go through phases of wanting to do stuff, one month all ill wanna do is paint, and i do for like two weeks solid, then i just stop and do somthing else non stop like modding.

I slipped into a phase of whenever i got bored id try to improve my pc some more, i soon realised that whenever i do this i break something expensive :D so i just stick to modding when i really want to, not just when im bored

I do a bunch of stuff. I'll build things or write. Right now I'm building bottle rockets (the water kind). I'm hoping to make a mermaid fin for my gf when she moves back for school in the fall. Then I want to go and do a shoot and make a calender of her, haha. She's said she's pretty much up for it.

My brother and I work on a robotocracy site where we pretend to be a robot looking at our world and reviewing things the way a robot would. We are also working on revamping oldschoolsystems.com.

I am trying to figure out how to start a computer boutique like voodoo or alienware or falcon NW. I'm mostly just looking at future technology and learning how to find investors. I'm also working on a fake site that I could use to show how my online store would work when I present the idea to investors.

well theres a bit of writing on that one, and it was kind of hard to see (cruddy scanner) so i wrote in what it said so you can read it. often times i have about 50/50 writing and drawing. now, i cant tell you the justification for all this, but i can tell you what each thing is in that scene. weve got a hitler-bacterium flying out of a trumpet thanks to an input noise. weve got a cube. weve got a pirate sponge and winston churchill pking up a pancake breakfast just below. we got a microscope, and "atilla the hun's can-o-something". we got a venus fly trap turned mutant person, and i have deemed this phenomenon to be an exam pattee. thers some sort of transmitting hoverbot, and a head-comet. a muffled grand piano, and another hitler who has a unibrow that is turning into a lumpy whale. quite the cool stuff eh?

this one i really dont know about to tell the truth. about 80% of that stuff in unrecognizable, and i dont remember drawing this one. i do recognize a jet powered three headed sheep, a lemon in a boxing glove, an attempt at a squirrel on the mid right of the page, a smoking jet powered and hairy sail ship, and some weird looking flat-faced guy punching a lumpy monkey in the mouth. beyond that, well its open to interpretation.

ok, this one was done on some precalculus notes. obviously i dont hold math in high regard. theres also a flip side to this page, but its quite offensive, so im leaving it out. there are three main things on this side though. at the top right, we have a wind chime, and drum, and a cymbal. the wind chime is saying "im in the streets", the drum is saying "@!$#, im stuck with a clam on stilts" because the cymbal looks like a clam on stilts, and the cymbal is apologizing. on hte bottom left, we have a flaming jesus who is saying "my people! i am on fire! i am wearing a melted dress! i am your saviour in tight pants?"... and on the right side just above jesus, we have a bionic sponge orange that is saying ".,," and it has all sorts of gadgets on it.

so those are the drawings, all three of them. im going to put in the story now too, but in a different post.

my god. its a monstrosity! with some strategic punctuation, it might actually make a good short story though. this is one of those two sided stories where its split down the middle. if anyone can pick out and write the two different stories, ill give them a stamp of approval.

When I'm fried out of my mind at school(when a teacher is monologing or we're supposed to read), I usually sleep, eat yes EAT, and/or doodle. I draw cars, model train layouts space vehicles and my occasional Blic's Adventure, a tale of an average stick man and his dog Catt. I try to find the original and scan it.

I like to cook. It's one of the more creative things I do. I cook all my own food down to breads and sauces.

Health & Nutrition. I like to understand how to be healthy and what my body needs and why.

i usually just draw random lines or things and then make them into somthing, flying eyeballs , robotic animals , stick figures having sex / killing eachother. my girl freind made me a couple games ill see if i can find one, they look like the ones you see in magazines and whatnot. but the best of all is drawing things with your eyes closed , its an experience and its always funny to see what you drew with your eyes closed, like, a pair of siccors looks like a penis, and a hampster you drew ends up looking like a yetti ( a sasquatch) fun stuff :D

i also do this. i think thats what i was doing for that attempted squirrel. ive got a whole book ful of that stuff somewhere.

i also make stories up with my friends. we kind of take turns narrating and describing events and people. most times it ends up in some sort of physical abuse though. i regularly get smothered in papers, or tackled on stairs, or slapped when im not looking.

and one other thing i forgot to mention. i like to destroy things. me and my brother have a compressed air cannon that we can shoot spikes through 1/2 inch plywood with. we also use it to launch things like snails way in the air. im working on a coil gun design right now that could very well propel iron projectiles to mach 2 or something around there. my brother has an induction heater that can melt iron too (its basically a big coil that you run a high frequency, high current charge through, and it will melt ferrous metals, but im not sure about non ferrous). we take apart parachute flares and launch things in the air, and we also make timed explosive devices so we can blow things up and not be too close. i think one of my purposes in life is to take large things and turn them into as many small things as possible.

so i think that now sums up what my spare time consists of. now, anyone want more pictures? i can go dig some other good stuff up for tomorrow after class.

Anyway... The topic, yes...

Even though i do sit around a lot, its never because im bored. Im either using the computer for various upon various tasks or im watching tv. Now i know you all think watching tv is a waste of time and rots your brain. However, Im either watching one of my many movies (cinema freak) or watching the discovery channel or somthing with useful content. I believe if your going to spend your time looking at a tv, you may as well learn somthing from it.

As for the computer. I dont do it enough anymore but im quite talented with building websites from scratch (notepad & HTML) and using photoshop to make the grafix. Grafix are how i first got into computers and i've made lots of images, designs, and wallpapers (ill have some links below. There is lots more then i could ever post)

There are some times when i get this strange feeling like im one with the universe and i look at somthing wether it be a neat building, animal or somthing senic. I try not to think and just observe the magnificence of the world around me. Im either deep or dumb, i cant tell which.
