Project: iTX 690


I wanted to mod a new ITX system and my friend wanted a new badass computer, so we compromised.


3 things I wanted to do for this build:

1. Allot of power in an ITX form factor
2. Make it pretty
3. keep it around $2000


I have lots of ideas in store to make this a one of a kind PC. I am trying to get most of it done over the weekend so check back daily for updates.


Lets get started.

At first we did want to put a nice watercooling setup in this rig but thats $500+ we could put back into hardware. The best way to get the most performance out of this itx platform is a powerful video card. Because we are limited to a single slot the best option is the single most fastest video card we could get.

So, what PSU are you using?

For now (to stay at budget) ill run the "custom" 600watt SST-ST60F-SG that came with it. I was thinking id need a bigger supply but after doing some research i should be fine. all it will be running is the 690 1hdd 1ssd and a stock vcore cpu with 1 fan. (and a few low watt leds) its a single rail rated at 46amp/552w bronze.

worst case i can mod a bigger 160mm psu to fit.

so I started putting it together and immediately realized the heatsink wasn’t going to allow the video card to fit. Thought about getting a different heat sink but realized its just the horrible cpu positioning on the motherboard that would prevent me from running the big coolers I liked. Thought about getting a different board but instead figured I would just "persuade" the heatsink to fit.

love the idea of the small duct for the gpu to separate it completely from the case also i hope its just the flash that's making the paint look funky haha

Thanks, yea it looks much better in person. galexy note pics. (great for outdoor high light) i took pics and had to retake because i didnt notice the cat hair on the glass until after i looked at the pictures. it also has leds inside but the pictures dont look as good as it does in person so im not even going to post them. theres still allot i would like to do but its already at budget. its definitely one of a kind and thats all we were really trying to do.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to mod.

Not to see who can build a better computer, but to let the creative juices flow.

You can stuff high-end hardware into a tiny box. Impressive in of its own accord.

Me? The only thing stopping me from a decent mod is a good enough income (my parents simply don't have the money to afford much, maybe $2/month for my personal use...), but that's not stopping me from doing what I can to build and develop my style.

That's why I'm going to be getting a job soon. Along with a few other personal uses.
