View Full Version : 20/24-pin ATX female port (and metal plugs and tool)
For my brother's overdone monitor (AKA iMac G5 shell), I'm re-using the PSU. It's a weird 22-pin connector, but it's almost the same physical shape of a 20/24-pin ATX connector. The electrical's a little different: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/images/imacg5_power_supply_pinout.gif. I just need a female connector so I can make it a little easier to interface into it. 20 or 24 doesn't matter, as the extra 2 pins, as you can see, are 24V, and
GND.
While I have your interest, I'm looking for a quick 2-wire system to disconnect a power switch.

Just but a used PSU.
Whoops, I got the male/female thing mixed up....
Need the on-motherboard-style connector, lemme look for 'em.
As for the crimper, would my automatic wire stripper work? It has crimper stuff on it.

For ATX pins, you want a good crimper that bends the pins back into the wire insulation. This will keep it from falling out.

Check out the closeup pics of what the tool actually does with the pins.

Close, but are there any that have the the MB-side connector, but able to put individual wires in? Like for a custom extension cable?

**Less than $10... Worth a shot at sponsorship.
OK, I found an old fan cable, so that's taken care of. Just need to find the ATX male pins.

Take it I'm asking for something obscure?
Yes, I do need the motherboard-side-style connector, but I'm pretty certain that those won't work.
Actually, they'll work. Now, their sponsor email address. That something I have to find, or anybody know it?

PPCs will not sponsor you. I can tell you that already. They told me no for a long time till I told them I go into a magazine. They want wicked unique mods and people that have some big features on their mods.
OK. As if modding an iMac G5 into an overdone monitor wasn't unique enough :P
Still, I may get it soon.
