finding a slot-load dvd drive for $20 is gunna be tough, Max. Those things are in high-demand and the supply isn't exactly huge. Good luck, though!

I've always found the easiest way of getting slot-loader drives for my projects (few of them required them) is to ebay moderately old broken laptops then dismantle it and rip out the drive (pray for dvd or do your research). The old Apple TiBooks with broken hinges are the best cause they all came with DVD.

Hey thanks for all the help but when I looked on eBay the price for a broken iBook is about $300. I found a bunch of iBook screens (all cracked) I am thinking about making a cool alien-ish project.

Well good luck in your search, just wait around for the right deal on a slot-load drive. You won't see any competition from me for one since i use a lot of mini-cds.

Also make sure you look into second hand external cd drives as a good number are slot loading should be a simple mod to get the bugger in a case.
