I have seen and heard this used a lot to fix the imperfections from sanding/priming/bondoing, so here's my question.

I have been to about 3 or 4 different hardware stores and have searched online at the local autoparts stores (NAPA, AdvanceAuto, CarQuest) and have come up with nothing. Where do you obtain spray putty from?

I have been doing alot of work with bondo but cannot get it to look smooth enough. Help!

Try Home Depot again. Ask this time.

Actually, I was at Home Depot yesterday, and was looking for the same thing, and did ask, adn they didn't carry it. I'm wondering where I can find some, as well.

Max, making snide comments won't win you much respect around here.

I would try car stores - thats where you will have best luck finding things like spray putty and bondo. Pepboys or Autozone should have it - I get all my putty/bondo there as well as my super fine grit sandpaper (600-200 grit) and auto quality paint. I have found them to be more usefull than expected for a modder.

Most big DIY stores don't care specialty items. They can't. They cover too much to specialize.

If you want to find something really specific, look for it on the internet and figure out what it's used for, then hit up those stores/sites.

I've found bondo just about everywhere. It's real common stuff.

You can't get your bondo work to smooth out? Are you stepping up your sanding grits?

I looked at the auto body shop and found some nice spraypaints, and picked up another tin of bondo and some nice sandpapers, but they didn't have any spray putty either.

the search continues.

Oh, Aqua, make sure you're using a sanding block and not just using your hands behind the paper, and work your way up to high-count sandpaper, and you should end up with some very respectably smooth bondo work, given enough sanding.

Wet and dry paper will give a better finish than sandpaper(glasspaper), especially with bondo.

Bondo is body filler.
The only aerosol 'foam' I know about is insulation.
Bondo is a type of body filler. Kind of like how plexi is described for all see through plastics.

Doesn't silicon carbide clog faster though?

FYI The brown sandpaper is Aluminum Oxide, the blue is Silicon Carbide. Blue is wet/dry typically.

Bondo is the company that makes 2 part plastic body filler here in the states.
I'm not sure of the UK Name but I know others have had luck if they went to the local auto parts store and asked for plastic body filler.

The Spray putty I'm not even sure the name of it in the USA...I've looked for it at advanced Auto, Wall-mart, Maijer, Lowes, and Home Despot only to come away empty handed the guys didn't even know what I was talking about they kept pointing me to the Bondo cans. I'm sure I've seen the Spray putty in someone's work log here.... (maybe Defyant's worklog) But I'm at a loss as to where to buy it here in the states. Let alone help you guys in the UK....But when I find it I'll let you know where to get it and the name of the Co that makes it ....that should help us all (Internet sells baby!)

I know Defyant used it in his Flame'D mod.

One of my favorite things about reading other people's worklogs is they help me write my shopping list for the next trip tot he hardware store. My last trip, I picked up a contour gauge like Defyant used, among other neat stuff.
