I've always loved steel diamond plate. It's such a strong and attractive metal and I like using it here and there when modding
For a while now, I've been thinking that a computer made entirely of diamond plate would be pretty cool. It will be in a diamond plate box shrouded inside in diamond plate!
My canvas is a diamond plate steel box

First, I got a micro ATX motherboard and PSU to see if it would all fit. These are not the components that I'm using, but just a size guide for what I need

For those parts that you need to be plastic, not metal, there is acrylic with a diamond plate finish available. Might be worth taking a look at if you need it.

It only took me 6 weeks of Playing Borderlands 2 to finally cut the window
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120417.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120418.jpg
And the card slots too

I cut out the backplate area
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120436.jpg
And the PSU intake
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120437.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120439.jpg
Then I riveted the motherboard tray in place and added the PSU

Interesting how much modding you get done when you're playing Borderlands 2...
Just for grins, I'd recommend half-mirrored acrylic for the window. If there's lighting inside the case, you'll see the interior. If it's off, it'll look mirrored.

Now on to the motherboard shroud. I mapped out the motherboard using cardboard
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120457.jpg
And then traced it onto the piece of diamond plate I'm using
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120458.jpg
Then I just had to cut it all out
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120468.jpg
I can't have the bare metal from the diamond plate touching the surface of the motherboard, so I'm coating the bottom with liquid rubber

http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120471.jpg
The dry time will be at least a couple of days

I cut out two 70mm fan intakes
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120550.jpg
I'm using these aluminum 70mm fans for the perfect match, but I'm still waiting on the grills
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120551.jpg
And a 120mm on top
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120553.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120554.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120556.jpg
The grills arrived. I'll be using longer screws with nuts, and rubber washers
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120560.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120561.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120562.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120563.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120564.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120566.jpg
I bought feet for a Lian Li case
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120567.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120569.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120570.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120572.jpg
Once all the fans and feet were mounted I used my dremel to cut off the excess screw thread
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120574.jpg
I'm gonna put the power button on the back
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120601.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120602.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120604.jpg
Time to get the wiring

I had to change the PSU to something that will fit easier for the shroud I'm gonna be adding.
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120608.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120609.jpg
And I'm happy that it boots
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120610.jpg
I'm using a 60GB SSD that I got for $20!!
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120612.jpg
And my old Radeon 6850 too
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120613.jpg

Now I have a big mess of wires
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120617.jpg
I'm using a shroud to cover the wires
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120619.jpg
And cut a notch for the wires to pass through
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120620.jpg
Then set it in
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120621.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120622.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120624.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120625.jpg
Then I spent quite a while trying to get the cover to fit on the motherboard with no luck. I even cut it into pieces hoping to segment it together and it still won't stay in place
Moving on....
For now I'm just adding a light
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120632.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120633.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120636.jpg
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120639.jpg
One thing I've been meaning to do is make another piece for the back of the video card. I even used a little extra spray rubber to adhere the metal to the PCB.
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120656.jpg
I put a window on, but the double sided tape looks rediculous
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120657.jpg
So I used aluminum tape to cover it up
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1120658.jpg
I guess that's it, I'm done
