Yes its me again.
Today I was sitting on the computer playing Halo and was beginning to get bored when I see my old PSX lying in a corner of my room. I think "What the hell I'm bored, so why not mod my old system?" So I took the whole thing apart and got all of the dust off of the mobo. Right now the primer is drying. I have decided to paint it a sexy red color and maybe tweek it. If anybody has any idea how to overclock a PSX please help me.
Heres it unprimed:

And primed:

P.S. Sorry 'bout the bad quality pics I'm taking them on my cameraphone because I don't have a camera. :(

lol, your hearts definately in the right place, but im not sure if youll be able to OC that PS1. but they make good practice projects. considering they cost like 20 bucks or less at gamestop, and thats with controllers and all the cables. ive always like my N64. so i went out and bought a used one for 20 bucks and opened it up, painted it, added some lights that actually run off of a seperate ac adapter, cuz i didnt feel like finding the 12 volt leads on the main board. all in all it was a great way to get ready for a bigger project.

P.S. If you really wanna try overclocking a console, theres a guy out there who decided to overclock(and underclock) an old NES. it looks like youd need some general knowledge of electronics and basic soldering skills, but its interesting how the games react to differant clock speeds. they actually run at differant speeds with differant clock settings. just google it, im sure youll find a worklog laying around somewhere

I have advanced soldering skills. And I have a bunch of led control boards so its gonna be a cool psx. I WILL NEVER EVER LEAVE THESE FORUMS!!!!! I love it here...

advanced soldering skills are good, theyre something wish i had. especially when i did the 3 differant volt mods for my EPOX motherboard. that took me forever to get right. but i managed to pull them all off without frying it. i swear, this mother board has survived more abuse than any other piece of computer hardware i own.

You have a ps1:

Lots of people get them messed up.

Oooooooooook.
Today I found one of my controllers and took it apart (same thing with the memory card) but I couldn't find the other controller. MAN those screws are in there tight. My hand hurts :(. STUPID SONY  . They should make these things hackable. :(
Here are the dismanteled controller and memory card:

THATS IT FOR NOW!!!!!!

P.S. Hey The Great Destroyer if you don't want the PS1 give it to me I'll mod it or something. I've been wanting to try some stuff on one of those.;)

A PSX mini itx box would be great for emu. And Playstation is so old that there's good emulation for it.

lol, yeah i know the difference. as for the ps1, i think i'll keep it around a little while longer.

heres an idea for the controller (did this to my ps2, gotta look for pics later): rip out the rumble motor from a ps controller and put it in another, that way itll rumble even more. i never figured out what the motor with the weak weights was for. it never seemed to move when i played...

that Mini itx place is sooooo cool, i am going to do a playstation two mod when i get the money together, i did a price check, £500 for a Mini ITX board, PSU, 1.5GHz CPU, 40GB HDD, Slimline DVD-CDRW and 1U HSF

then i just got to get the old PS2's to HACK to death, Im gonna do a better job than the guy on MINI-ITX, i man, yes he did a great job, it looks amasing, but i want to keep the PS2 drive tray cover, i don't want some IDE leads running out the front, and i want the PSU housed inside, im also going to re-wire the switches and LEDS to run from the PS2 switches and leads.

I don't suppose this would be the place to say this. I suggest you start your own thread in the "ideas" section.

You could do a taser mod to the controllers instead of having them vibrate. There are simple instructions here (http://www.g4tv.com/screensavers/features/44543/Dark_Tip_Build_an_Xshok_Controller.html).

You could hook it up to one of these (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?p=WX2&i=60903) 500,000V tasers and have a blast!

yeah, sounds kinda scarey, especially cuz i sit on the floor a lot when i play, and during cutscenes i tend to place the controller in my lap. and lets just say i dont wanna find out how good of an insulator cloth really is, lol

Yeah. Hurting your nards would not be fun. I think it would be better to get a smaller, lower voltage taser and get all of it hooked up in the controller. Then you play a fun trick on unsuspecting friends.

AKA_RA

actaully, it looks like the one they used would be just right, its enough to feel, but not enough to really hurt. i can see how it can add a bit of a challenege, and fun, to games, especially ones like Mortal Kombat. to bad it would be near impossible to get one that shocked your opponent more when you hit them harder. so for that finishing blow they really feel it, lol

Well yesterday I covered up the Playstation logo (indent) with epoxy and today I sanded it down and bought red paint. I will start painting tomorrow.

Wheeeeeeee~~
Well today I painted the controller and memory card but on the top half of the controller I made a fingerprint smudge (:D:() so now I have to sand it down and repaint and re clear coat it. All I have to do to the bottom part is clear coat it again. Then I do the buttons.
But first I have to finish up my other mod. Well at least the bezel.
Thanks for the *AHEM* encouraging words.

hmm, well, it does rumble harder when theres more impact (at least for the ps2) so there might be a way to make it where it increases the voltage the more it rumbles)

the controller mod:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/DFSniper/Other/PS2Mods.jpg

the only thing i messed up on is that theyre both wired to one side, so say you get hit on the right when racing, both sides will rumble, and on the left it wont. gotta change that!

Well I made a fan hole and put a cool looking mesh in there. Also I made a cool window(s) on the CD cover.
I can't find a 12v output on the PSX mobo. Can anyone show me where it is?
Thanks.

I'm observing, nice work on the window i've never seen a design like that. Since i don't own a PSX or 1 or 2 or two, nor do i care to own one (it's a pour system imo) i can't really point you in the direct of what would be nifty to "enhance" the system, but one comment is maybe try a tighter mess, just my opinion tho, besides that ncie work. Also check around the disc drive for 12v cause im pretty sure its motor is 12v.

What are you going to mod the laptop? I mean...how?

Got a multimeter? Find a ground on the mobo and just start touching points... never fails. Even if it's hideously boring sometimes. Anyways, great job man. There are a lot fo people following this mod, you have to give us more than 7 hours before you get angry about people not replying - most people on here have JOBS. That they go to, during the DAY.

sanding block. or try an oilstone. use a vice and possibly a square to get that 90 degree angle.
